National Dept. of Land Reform & Rural Development
[TODAY] Land Reform and Rural Development Minister Mzwanele Nyhontso addressed the 3rd Annual Eastern Cape Mining Indaba held at the East London Golf Club. The Mining Indaba is held under the theme: "Unlocking the Full Mining Value Chain for Inclusive Growth & Sustainable Development. "This topic is very appropriate as it underscores the intersection between mining and land matters. The indaba is being held in a province that exhibits deep scars of our colonial past, but also has immense potential to overcome this terrible legacy" - said Minister Mzwanele Nyhontso #ECMiningIndaba2025 #IntegratedAndInclusiveRuralDevelopment #AccelaratingLandAccess

The 9th Gender and Extractives Symposium is underway. 🚨Zimbabwe’s mining sector is booming—but women are still being left behind. Despite their vital contributions, women remain locked out of leadership, stuck in precarious artisanal roles, and burdened by environmental damage, unpaid care work, and regressive tax policies. Meanwhile, profit shifting and opaque tax incentives rob Zimbabwe of vital revenues that could fund gender-responsive public services like healthcare, GBV support, and climate-resilient infrastructure. At the 9th Gender and Extractives Symposium, we say: it’s time to #AccelerateAction. We’re calling for: ✅ Transparent & fair taxation of mining revenues ✅ Equal participation and leadership for women in the sector ✅ Sustainable, climate-smart mining practices ✅ Support for women-led enterprises and small-scale miners By integrating tax justice with gender equality, we can turn mining into a true engine of inclusive development and environmental stewardship. @ZELA_Infor @ActionAidZim @ZIMCODD1 @zccinzim @tracymutoe #AccelarateAction #GenderAndExtractives2025 #TaxJusticeNow #JustTransition #WomenInMining #MiningReform

African Minerals Development Centre (AMDC)
Yesterday, Dr. Amany Asfour (President, Africa Business Council) delivered a powerful vision at the AMREC-PARC Workshop that resonated with our mission: "Africa’s true wealth lies not only beneath our soil but in our ability to transform our mineral resources through value addition and industrialisation. We must harness these resources strategically to build resilient value chains, boost intra-African trade, and create inclusive economic growth—driven by African industries for African people." 🔹 Beyond Raw Exports: Turning rutile, diamonds, and gold into finished products = 10x more jobs & revenue 🔹 AGJEC as Catalyst: Platforms like AGJEC create direct links between miners, manufacturers, and continental markets 🔹 Breaking Dependence: Local processing reduces reliance on foreign middlemen (who capture 90% of gemstone profits) The Path Forward: ✅ Ratify AMDC Statutes to unlock technical/financial support for value-addition projects ✅ Invest in Skills: AMDC’s gemology certification programs (like those highlighted by Engr. Sithole) ✅ Leverage AfCFTA: Duty-free trade of African-made jewelry and mineral products 👉 Join the Movement: Policymakers: Fast-track industrialization policies Private Sector: Partner with local processors Youth: Explore careers in mineral tech & design #AfricaMiningVision #MadeInAfrica #AGJEC #ValueAddition #AMDCMedia #AMDC
