So the story is a woman thinks she’s better than her boring provincial life, rejects the best it has to offer and falls in love with the first rich man she meets even though he’s a dick. (But you just don’t understand him he’s really sweet with me) If Gaston was the prince the narrative would be cleaner. Bell would be rejecting the prince that had everything she could ever want but was actually evil inside, for a beastly looking provincial man who was actually sweet on the inside. Showing what she really wanted was a sweet caring man. Instead the story is she thought she was better than everyone else and went off and married a rich guy to escape her boring peasant neighbors.
