My PhD student will NOT be at @RealAAAI to present their paper because they did not get a visa in time, despite applying immediately after paper acceptance. Should we apply for visas when we plan to submit? Or perhaps we should hold conferences in countries with less strict rules

Today French Twitter users seem to be sharing their salary information. As a researcher at Inria, 8 years after PhD, I make about €2300 net / month (+ bonus worth a bit less than an extra month / year). AFAIK this is quite a bit higher than the median French salary.
