@SurplusCornbre1 @Gr33nOnions except we don't get a lot of control because the "global village" means now both the abstract & concrete effects of decisions are visible in day-to-day life
the goal is no longer changing shit, it's about buying time. at least the biological failsafe of death remains undefeated.
English

@azurebridge @Gr33nOnions No that's quite immature actually. Maturity for most people is realizing both the past and the future is a mix of bad and good and that as we age we get a lot of control over making our lives and the lives of those around us better.

Everything is nostalgia slop. I don't want to grow up, I don't want to build the future. I want to go backwards, I want to be kid again, I want to be in the womb where it's safe. I don't want to grow, I want to melt away into memories

@vozercozer clearly a punchy OLED's ability to shut pixels off (yes video games are pure black 90% of the time shush) overrides how the battery life/thermals are already questionable!
i dont get the oled craze in phones/handhelds. i had a pixel 6a and it was a gimmick. 720p ips 4 lyfe.

im starting to see why old people allow themselves to not stay current on all the latest happenings with technology. shit happens too fast and im tired

@bomberfish77 it's the same form of underlying logic as why nazi germany was happily minting coins in february 1945, i don't know how else to explain it

@LxlxIxlxlxL they used to sell phones with no-camera variants (for sensitive workplaces) to businesses about a decade ago. quite the war crime today!

@shupeluter The last bastion of Windows (in 2026) is the underlying NT kernel itself, to me.
But that was compromised in NT 4, with the GDI/graphics stuff moved to kernel mode for "speed". They also removed the POSIX & OS/2 subsystems, along with RISC ports that utilized the HAL. It's sad.

VBScript

@_by_Galaxy_s20 The Pixel 8a has AirDrop support, yet the 8 and 8 Pro do not. Completely arbitrary rules, as expected.
It's vaguely similar to how iMessage's RCS support got neutered compared to expectations. Plus, RCS as an open standard is meaningless, since 1 Android client supports it.
English

@vozercozer idk i wouldn't risk it (even if possible).
like hadith implies, the men of al-zutt may eagerly begin "riding" someone if they go into a store and ask, and they will be in pain/tired.
oh, from the amount of questions and enthusiasm, why?

@jaxonloid i remember being sad since i could only afford a new series s (in late 2022) and i had buyers remorse for a bit
but holy shit, i wouldve gotten nothing at all today. the anemic series s is now $500, aka the launch MSRP of the series x

@mersomas a $15 chinese otterbox-style case has always been my go-to for phones since 2017, i will never give up port flaps.
but hey could be worse. you ever seen a girl with a transparent iphone case that's never been cleaned? shit's disgusting, a yellow petri dish

@RAWigger And that's why I simply don't care about pollution.
Pouring black diesel smoke into the atmosphere? Not my problem. Let the 2100 AD multicultural utopians writhe and suffer in the putrid Venusian hellscape we give them. Climate change is crazy!

@potechilike It's a cool novelty design. The (flawed) 6000 series aluminum wasn't that unusual, since the contemporary Android competitors (Galaxy S4 & Nexus 5) were both made out of plastic.
Plus, the A9 chip in the 6S/SE was far more prolific. 6S also used 7000 series to end bendgate.
