This is especially true in the UK. We have a massive jump from 20% to 40% tax at £50K income. As if by magic, most people don’t want to earn more than £50K. I have personally offered a pay rise to people who asked for a 4-day week instead At £50K specifically to avoid paying 40% on the extra income. If the government moved this to smaller increments - EG: 25% on income £50-70K and then 30% and then 40% you would see incomes jump tomorrow.

People think I am anti tax. I’m not. I believe tax rises will cause the UK to collect LESS taxes not more. Imagine a coffee shop that has the highest coffee prices on the street and people are leaving. So it increases the price of a coffee some more. The price increase will result in LESS money coming in. If you want to get more money in, you need to make the coffee shop competitive! When I complain about tax hikes, I’m describing a situation where I predict the government will do damage to the economy by repelling the very people who pay high taxes. I believe that tax should be at a healthy level the economy can sustain - something like 35% of the economy should be Government spending. Currently we are at over 45% of the UK economy is government spending. UK Taxes are already at an all time high since WW2. Debt to GDP has exceeded 100% for the first time in decades. It’s unhealthy. The economy is stagnant and has been for 15 years. The UK government is too big. Its spending is out of proportion with the size of the economy. Its taxes are not competitive, nor are they good value for money. I’m not anti tax. I’m pro tax, but to collect more tax you need an economy that is growing and a tax system that is attractive.

Just had my gas and electricity bill from Scottish Power. It's not estimated - it's done on my meter readings. For the last 3 months, it's 271.31. I've not had the heating on once. I've been away to Cornwall for 5 days and Yorkshire for 5 days. I don't put the lights on in the sitting room at night - I rely on the glow from the TV. I don't have a dishwasher or tumble dryer. I haven't got any kitchen gadgets. I only have one TV. God knows how really elderly people are going to manage this winter without their winter fuel payments.

In the Commons today Rishi scored a hit over Keir. Why should a train driver on £65,000 a year get a pay rise of almost £10,000 while a pensioner on £13,000 a has the winter fuel payment removed? Keir Starmer was so discombobulated he called Rishi PM 5 times.

car crash at karsaz: no-one knows the circumstances of the crash or what caused it. everyone's ready to jump on the banter on the videos as gospel because it's a class war out there. the 'drunk' narrative has no weight as her car has turned over. there's shock. there's concussion. internal injuries. yes, people died. but people jumping on the bandwagon of vigilante or mob justice is sickening and dangerous. driving in this city daily, would i believe the say so or road conduct of motorcyclists? i would not. they defy every rule and every traffic rule or decency. take a breath people.

The woman had just come out of her own car which had also flipped to the side with airbags deployed. She was facing a mob of people who were very aggressive. Her family and friends have all come out to say she doesn’t drink. She was coming back from the gym in the daytime, not exactly the ideal spot for a drink. She wasn’t able to show remorse because she was in shock. The CCTV videos of the accident do show some clearly negligent driving which she must answer for. She’s a 40 year old mother of three coming back from the gym who had a horrible accident which was likely her fault.
