Angry? Livid? Furious? I’m not sure there’s a word to describe exactly how pissed off I am about this 60 Minutes episode. Where was 60 Minutes when people like Greg Biffle and Adam Smith flew helicopters into WNC to save trapped families? Where were they when Shawn Hendrix and countless others delivered RVs to those facing winter weather with nowhere to sleep? While Margo, dozens of others, and I gave up everything to put 1000% toward making sure hillbillies had what they needed, where was CBS? I raised money for Haywood County. I raised money for Black Mountain Home for Children. I spent hours on the phone with elected officials, keeping Ted Budd’s team aware of what was happening on the ground. I debunked lies and exposed bad actors. I ran supplies. I handed a microphone to people who lost everything. I posted around the clock about what was needed and where. And I did all of that while in shock and mourning for my mountains. We BEGGED journalists to do their jobs. Instead, they vilified conservative victims. Now they want to vilify those of us who got off our rear ends and made shit happen? To CBS and 60 Minutes, from the bottom of my heart: Go fuck yourselves.
