Really bad ball by Purdy followed by a bad call and the lead looks like it’s going to evaporate….#49ers

Definitely should have taken a knee there to burn some clock. This may come back to haunt Buffalo. #NFLPlayoffs

@schadjoe They just flash all over the field on film. The key is whether or not they can put 4 games together to win it all.

@elliottswrstlin Read different sources & we’ll never know the real truth, but I think Sting’s performance was indicative of the political nonsense backstage. Worst booking job in WCW history. Biggest PPV buy ever, full house, yr long story built for Sting to go over & screw it up 6 ways from Sun

One of the weirdest matches of all time even before the ridiculous finish. Watch this next to the Hogan vs Piper match from Starrcade 96 or the title change with Luger on Nitro. Sting's performance in this is so bizarre & lifeless.
𝐃𝐫𝐚𝐕𝐞𝐧@WrestlingCovers

28 years ago today at Starrcade, Sting defeated Hollywood Hogan to win the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. 🦂 The most anticipated match of the year. Potential to be the greatest moment in WCW history… and they blew it.

Among other CFP moments of glory tonight: Vanderbilt beating Tennessee so badly in Neyland that it knocked the Vols out of the Top 25, thus negating any credit the Commodores could have gotten, is a chef's kiss of nonsense.

Great point. Totally forgot about the way the posting fee grows if/when the original contract grows. So it roughly a 3/$66M decision on Imanaga. Funny thing, the AAV there is the same as the Qualifying Offer, though that is just a one-year deal.
Chief Cub@ChiefCub

The other thing with Imanaga’s contract: The Cubs would’ve owed an additional 15% fee to Yokohama DeNA BayStars for all exercised options and escalators. So that 3yr | $57M extension was effectively a 3yr | $66M.

The starting rotation for the 2008 Chicago Cubs is peak baseball. They should’ve been the team to break the curse. Ryan Dempster - 6.9 bWAR, 2.96 ERA Ted Lilly - 4.0 bWAR, 4.09 ERA Carlos Zambrano - 4.2 bWAR, 3.91 ERA Jason Marquis - 2.4 bWAR, 4.53 ERA Rich Harden - 3.4 bWAR, 1.77 ERA

Fun fact: Florida State joined the ACC in 1992 and it took 14 seasons before Bobby Bowden got to 10 conference losses. The 'Noles currently have 10 ACC losses since 2024.

.@DavidHaugh believes the Cubs should start Colin Rea in Game 5 of the NLDS against the Brewers, with the goal being for him to record 9 to 12 outs before giving way to the bullpen. "Colin Rea is the man for this moment," he says. "It is not Shota Imanaga."
