never ask me for food recommendations if you're coming to Tokyo. "any ramen places you recommend?" like bitch we do not have a shared mutual understanding of ramen, to you ramen is just a bowl of soup noodles but to me it's a religion. I can trace the lineage of every ie-kei place back to yoshimuraya before you can even finish looking up the nearest ichiran beside your hotel. I have 300 points saved up on the nakamoto app and my local ramen shop gives me extra chashu for ordering the correct option everytime. to ask me for food recommendations is like asking LeBron James for shooting tips. We are eight leagues apart and nothing I can say to you will resonate in your uncultured brain for even a millisecond.
but yeah just go to ichiran

what is it about the Japanese language that makes you extremely neurotic just by speaking it?

@FarfaYGO @totogonplays NOOO, FARFA. SUB IS ABSOLUTE PEAK. YOU'RE MISSING OUT ON SO MANY GOOD MOMENTS. THE JAPANESE VA IS ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. TRUST ME ON THIS ONE

@FarfaYGO Barfa, please do not let this decision ruin your experience. Sorcery battle has so many good VA's, even the side characters are solid. I admit there are some good dubs out there, but in this case, it's not even a contender. There's just no way you watch dub over the sub here

@feathereded He should know better to not put san honorifics after a noun like groupchat

@OliverJia1014 @AndyKavna No negativity here. Just randomly remembered reading the thread and seeing your name

@baetrden @AndyKavna How long are you going to harp on that? I’ve already said repeatedly that I know how it works but never encountered it until I started studying for the JLPT. Isn’t the point of studying to learn new things?

One of the most difficult things for anglophones to understand about learning Japanese is the relative CHASM between speaking/ listening skills and reading/ writing skills. It is entirely possible to be great at one and awful at the other to an absurd degree.

Contrary to popular belief, knowing how to read Japanese doesn't mean I can speak it well 🥲 The panic I went into because I forgot how to say meal (食事) Thank you patient ryokan employee. I'm sorry for fumbling my Japanese.

@AndyKavna I’m doing my best to improve my reading/writing skills now for the JLPT N1 exam.
There’s so much idiotic toxicity and competitiveness among the online Japanese language learning community though that I don’t post about it anymore. They make it their entire personality.

@writerofscratch looking up basic ass kanji on jisho from your phone at the local japanese post service was probably top 5 most embarassing moment of my life
