@prurardi I’m not a Drury defender and can’t wait for him to be gone, but from what I read, he did communicate with Trouba about his intentions of trading him. Trouba found out it was to Detroit and he added them to his no trade list.

to think if Chris Drury just had communicated with Jacob Trouba ALL OF THIS COULD BE AVOIDED.

@donjundon29 I’m the biggest Lundqvist fan there is. My dogs name is Hank. But I think making the playoffs is the wrong parameter to judge who’s better. If the Rangers win the cup in 2 years, does that mean Igor is better than Hank?

Not that this is Igor’s fault…. But the fact that the Rangers were so bad on paper all of those years with Lundqvist, and were always a playoff team, is the end of the Igor vs. Henrik argument IMO

“When we were first invited to Milan for the Olympics, we said no. It felt like more than we could handle. But we kept thinking about what John and Matty would say if they knew we turned it down. We knew the answer.

John loved representing his country. From the time he was little, he dreamed of competing at the Olympics. In that final summer, he was working harder than ever, pushing himself with everything he had to earn a spot on that roster. He was going to be there.

Sitting with that knowledge while watching these Games was not easy — but being present for them, surrounded by people who truly cared about John and Matty, made it something we will always treasure.

Every person we encountered took the time to ask about the boys — who they were, what they meant to us, the kind of people they were away from the ice.

What struck us most was realizing that John and Matty's impact reaches so much further than we sometimes see in our own grief.

They are carried by so many people — in locker rooms, in conversations, in quiet moments we will never even know about. That means everything to us.

And then Team USA won gold. When Zach, Auston, and Matthew carried John's jersey around that ice, we were overwhelmed — they made sure he was there. And then to see Noa and Johnny — on Johnny's second birthday — carried out onto the ice to be part of that gold medal photo — there are no words for what that felt like.

John and Matty should have been there, and in that moment, they were.

Thank you to every member of that team for loving John & Matty - and for making sure they were part of something historic. And thank you to everyone at @NBCOlympics and @usahockey for your kindness, your generosity, and for bringing our family to Milan to witness it.

You gave us a gift we didn't know we needed. With love and gratitude, The Gaudreau Family"

It’s pretty simple really: If you’re cool w/ trading Adam Fox bc you believe in going full rebuild, want a haul, don’t believe he fits their eventual contention window…that’s a solid fair take If you want him gone because you think he’s a mid/bad “milk drinker,” you’re a moron

@Cuylle4Selke @Agentsmith212 @MollieeWalkerr They are both point per game wingers. I think Panarin is a better player but Marchand can score at almost the same rate and brings physicality that Oanarin doesn’t. Flyers got a first but also sent 2 prospects to the panthers along with Giroux

I’m told the Kings were the only team Artemi Panarin wanted to go to and the only team #NYR had to work with. Return is Liam Greentree, a conditional 3rd that can become a second if the Kings win 1 playoff round (would be better of two Kings 3rds) and a conditional fourth-rounder in 2028 if the Kings win 2 playoff rounds.

@SofieRob1 Macklin Celebrine has more TOI on the power play in the one and a half years he’s been in the league than Lafreniere had in the first 4 years of his career combined. It’s a Rangers development issue.

@PhilKocher @NoahsNYR @DannyBlank5 I’m not sure about that. There’s been plenty of reports that the team feels he defers to the vets too much. The most dynamic he’s ever looked was when he was on the kid line a few years ago. Maybe he needs to feel like he’s the go to guy and he doesn’t when playing with stars.

@NoahsNYR @DannyBlank5 Once again, he was supposed to be the one driving play. He was supposed to be the one controlling offense. He was supposed to be the future. He's none of these things because he's not very good.

"...if you move on from [Panarin] ... Lafrenière is gonna go from a 40–40 point guy to a 20-point guy if you have no skill on the team." — @JLazzy23 (TSH pod, 1/16/26) My two cents: this says more about Laf than it does #NYR decision re: Panarin.

@The_Grate_1 @DaveyUpper @DavidHerer57 @JLazzy23 I get it. But he was never given the ipportunity to prove himself or to grow into his game. Some of it is on him. But the majority of the blame falls on the org for failing to put him in a position to succeed. He should have been parked next to Panarin 5v5 and on the pp.

@baf3472 @DaveyUpper @DavidHerer57 @JLazzy23 During Lafreniere's first season these other guys were also on the roster, and on the PP, eating into his ice time: Mika Zibanejad Artemi Panarin Pavel Buchnevich Ryan Strome (Center) Chris Kreider (Left Wing) Filip Chytil (Center) Who's ahead of Schaefer on the depth chart?

I appreciate stats always but I wouldn’t say “5v5 always tells the real story”. In 2024, Rod Brind’Amour said this after Game 3 vs. #NYR and it’s always stuck with me since: “We're focusing on how bad we're playing, but we're really playing pretty damn good. There's two games going on here, if you want to write the right story. We're losing one badly, but we're doing pretty damn good on the other one.” That was about how well the Canes were playing at 5v5 vs. how bad they were on special teams, the real story was that they lost the series in 6 games because their special teams wasn’t good enough. Rod wasn’t wrong in what he was describing, but both areas make up the story. The real story is results, and I give the guys who deliver on the PP a lot of credit, because not every team has those guys.
David 🏒@DaveyUpper

@JLazzy23 At 5v5 Matthew Schaefer has 11 Points in 46 games Vladislav Gavrikov has 12 Point in 46 Games Adam Fox has 14 Points in 30 games Players stats really jump out when your on the PP1, but 5v5 always tells the real story.

@17HockeyStud @DavidHerer57 @DaveyUpper @JLazzy23 You’re right. It is a llttle unfair to compare dmen and forwards. Bedard and Celebrini both averaged 21 minutes their rookie year. Laf was given 13 minutes and then benched if he did something creative instead of dump the puck and chase

@leland1321 @iEricKohn The ILLUSION was Igor. Florida knew they had him glove whenever they wanted. Yes, the Offense didn't overcome either. But people act like Igor was good in that series and he wasn't. Lmao.

The Rangers, as they were constructed, took the Panthers to six games. Would Guentzel have swung the series the other way? Maybe not. But he would have made a difference. And that was the gamble they should have taken.

@DavidHerer57 @DaveyUpper @JLazzy23 The first 46 games of his rookie year, Lafreniere averaged a shade under 13 minutes per game. Schaefer so far this year is averaging a shade under 24 minutes a game. Laf was never given the opppirtunity to prove he deserved to be on it.

@DaveyUpper @JLazzy23 The only thing similar is where they were taken in the draft. But maybe they have had different opportunities because of their play. After the first few games in the season, it was apparent that Schaefer deserved to be on PP1. It wasnt like that for Laf in year one.

@PhilKocher @averyzaretsky When he was 22, Alexis Lafreniere out scored both Jonathan Towes and Patrick Kane at even strength when they were the same age. Last season and this season so far have been disappointing for Laf, but to say he’s a middle-sixer is just wrong.

I really hate addressing the “anti-Laf” crowd because the hate is so forced, but it pisses me off when you can apply the same shit to anyone else. Yeah sure he had a terrible turnover last night. Look at the giveaways for this season and tell me he’s the problem.

Without Chris Kreider, there are no 3-1 comebacks. His return changed the series against the Penguins. And his GTG against the Caps saved the Rangers' season. Been a 16-game player since he entered the league. No matter what happens, got nothing but love and respect for him
