There’s a young rapper from Compton (I’m guessing 19-23 years old?) who’s never heard of The Chronic or Doggystyle. Do you think that’s a problem? Does he get a pass because he’s so young? Or should he know his history?

@popthesebuttons @DJRTistic @dejonpaul_ There’s nothing wrong with it but don’t put it before the skill or practicing your craft. That’s selling out and disrespecting the culture that’s giving you the opportunity to be famous and taking care of your family.

@missanitra73 @jmichelle555 Gangs in LA are based off streets. Not so much color. You have Crips that beef with Crip and bloods that beef with bloods. The color thing is something the media ran with but it’s a block to block thing. Not necessarily colors

@jmichelle555 I'm from Oakland, we don't have gangs. They rock what street you're from depending on what part. You have North, West and East Oakland. I'm from WSO I claimed Acorn. Marshawn Lynch is from NSO, they say they're polar bears. ESO people claim specific streets and neighborhoods.

@DJRTistic @dejonpaul_ Do these kids wanna be dope rappers or just make some money and be famous? We gotta start asking these questions so we know where to place them and if we should take them serious.

@DJRTistic No pass. I was born in 79 and knew about Motown and Sam Cooke when I was 8. Blame the parents for always trying to keep up with the new stuff and not teaching them where it originated

@romingdocks @JustAFamilyMan_ That’s what we keep telling yall! LA is a world city that people from around the world come to and get money so of course we don’t have the percentage but we got the raw numbers. This ain’t no lil hood city in the Midwest. This is the big leagues. The gateway to Mexico and Asia!

@slausongirlnews It was by design. LA had the largest Black Panther chapter in the country. Once the CIA killed Bunchy Carter and Craig Monson went to jail in 70/71, that left the streets to Raymond Washington and his Crips then the crack.

The history of gang banging in South Central, Los Angeles has reduced Black men to a level of poverty decades later that is not being discussed enough. This directly impacts not only dating but the Black family.

@Djfreak666 @ajclassicjr Stop working in Hollywood with the weirdos then. There’s so much more to LA than Hollywood. Kick with the blue collar folks that’s lived here since the 50’s.

@ajclassicjr No it doesn’t. Leimert Park on sundays isn’t fulfilling the void the 6days our of the week. Doesnt fill the void be surrounded by antiblack Latinos and Antiblack Asians and ANTIBLACK JEWS. Black Hollywood is even very condescending and separatists.

Ok but does the city feel Black. Like how much do you have to look for a Black community. Like ok sure LA has more Black ppl than Atlanta but what city is more Black friendly or where you can find a black owned restaurant or different types of Black communities?
South Centraleño@IkeMoses

Word. Everybody a statistician when it comes to Black LA but don’t really process the raw numbers. Like yeah, LA County is only 7% Black. But 7% of 10 million is 700,000 people and we’re mostly clustered in South Central and the South Bay. A DC or Detroit sized community.

@drehow @jmichelle555 Rodney O took the baseline from Barry White and that’s it. Did Metro just sample the baseline or did he sample the keys from Everlasting bass too? Let’s not be dumb. Metro sampled Rodney O

Fun fact: the beat on “Like That” traces back to Rodney-O & Joe Cooley’s “Everlasting Bass.” That iconic West Coast DNA. Timeless production. Full circle moment.

@jmichelle555 They took the sample from Barry White! Eric B & Rakim used the same sample first on “As The Rhyme Goes On” on Paid In Full album. Let’s make sure ppl are properly doing the knowledge! They didn’t use the SAMPLE first! This not their song, u posting this like they created the beat

The E 40 Kendrick Lamar connections over the years Kendrick has continued to pay homage to the Rap Legend E 40, here's some connections E 40 has a track "Big Ballin With My Homies" off his album "Charlie Hustle" that dropped November 1999...In 2012 Kendrick would mention listening to that same track on "Money Trees" Then you have the Pop Out that E 40 introduced Kendrick when he appeared to perform for the first time since the battle ended...Of course the track that started everything off was the track "Like That" which has the connections of the same sample used for E 40 track "Look At Me" which dropped on "Charlie Hustle" and the other connection is Kendrick, mentioning E 40 when he rap'd "N!**az clicking up but cannot B Legit,No 40 Wata" Super Dope 💯 how Kendrick pays homage to the rap Legend E 40

@DJRTistic @IkeMoses It’s wild that we even have 700,000 black folks. Look how far from the south(where black originate) we are! Philly, New York and Chicago can get to a confederate state in less than 5 hours. It’s a 14 hour drive to Texas from L.A.

It’s such simple math that they’re always obtuse about, and they always move the goal post. “Yeaaah, but in my hometown, we don’t have to drive to a certain part of town to see Black people” or “but the Black people in L.A. are all in the hood”
South Centraleño@IkeMoses
