@jmrphy @bdmarotta The big bio on him is excellent I thought and partly because his life was far more interesting than his fiction is in isolation. His life had many interludes and chapters that I had no idea about.
English

@bdmarotta I don’t find his fiction readable or enjoyable, though it’s interesting. I admire him as an independent spirit.

@kendallhosseini I think there’s more evidence in there to the argument that Connor is the most normal and kindest and human Roy and at some level Logan knew that. He seems to have low key given Connor more $ and attention without strings attached than the others.

@robvato P.S. this podcast episode is actually a pretty interesting, self-critical oral history & look behind the curtain by some of the CIA analysts who managed Iraq intelligence ahead of the war: cbsnews.com/news/u-s-invas…
English

@robvato I still remember being on a reporting trip near another border close to Calexico, sitting in my roadside motel at night, watching footage of US tanks and Bradleys rolling across the desert into Iraq, unable to shake off disbelief that the Pentagon/White House pulled the trigger

Personal News: Am elated to announce, with dithyrambic delight that I have accepted a tenure track position in the English Department at @unlv. Grateful to all the co-conspirators who make me possible.

@JeffHorwitz @RSButner Sorry, but isn't that exactly the process, re: editorial cabal? There's nothing conspiratorial about it, but laying down guidelines/shaping the tone and substance of coverage is exactly what the masthead does? It may be loose, but hand is there directionally. What am I missing?

There's a lot of excitement for AI and AI companies now, and rightfully so, but beyond Twitter they should all be getting ready for the war over the narrative that is just ahead.

45k likes. blatantly misleading misinformation: the person who made this misinformation took a GAN designed to produce close outputs given an input, gave it these inputs, and is now raising a reactionary mob

@johnprendergass Like, I don't think most that aspire to it understand how the time is really spent.
English

@johnprendergass Is it a great job for most that aspire to it? I would say if you dislike countless coffees, calls, meetings, e-mail exchanges, & thrive on deep, individual work it could be pretty tough (but I am speaking only from observation, you tell me)

This is cool. I've already kinda OD'd on all the GPT Chat examples people are tweeting but this one's actually compelling in a substantive way vs. just a novelty.

@ArcInternet Hey I enjoyed "State of the Arc," well done. Nice content curation and use of images/text and design. There was also enough substance there to justify it. Uno mas: it wuz purty.
