The 5th expansion for my game Runes of Zun is available for pre-order. Travel thru 36 locations that change the game rules as you play. I'm really happy with the art too. 😊 runesofzun.com/forbidden-land… #cardgame #gamedev

I haven't dealt with a more fraudulent group than Brax.io in a long while. Very polite but crooked.
Gobico Games@gobico

Brax.io is a scam. Avoid. Their services team misrepresented their work, refused to refund, and are even trying to process additional unauthorized charges on our card. They are straight up scammers.

@CORSAIR @CorsairSupport Wow thanks for your reply! It looked dead. No charging, nothing. I tried to reset & it came back to life. I had reasoned that if it didn't even get a charging light a reset wouldn't work. It did! I had the same problem w my old set, now I wonder if a reset would fix it too.

@CORSAIR shame on me for giving your headsets another chance. Internally broken mini usb connector. Again.

@TheMarco I despise all the toolchain requirements in stacks these days. Web dev has become a nightmare hellscape of fiddly bits. TS+React alone is running project code through 2 transpilers. Madness. If people hate JS so much, switch to one of the dozens of modern viable alternatives.

One of these days I'm gonna write an angry AF song about how React ruined my passion for web development, put it on YouTube and have a viral nerd hit song.

@jarredsumner I love bun's direction. Biggest challenges for me: lack of debugger (which made progress frustrating), http serve was super low level (quite my own router, was klunky), auto strict mode pushed me into hugely inconvenient core reactor that without a debugger was vexing. 1/2

Trying out bun.sh and uwebsockets.js (which bun uses internally). Both have significant performance boosts but are somewhat maddening to use beyond simple examples. 🎶 "don't go chasing waterfalls. stick to the node and the modules you're used to." 🎶

@jarredsumner I love the package manager, module resolution, embedded sqlite, and overall performance. It's fast! The build tool looks exciting as well. If I wanted to use TS, bun would be how I'd want to use it. I think you've done amazing work!🤘😁 2/2

uWebSocket.js is so promising, but rough. There's a maddening before/after code kludge you have to add to every HTTP handler with async code. Parsing POST data isn't formalized, and the example code loses res so you can't send back a status code if there's an error.

The only reason you need module "tree-shaking" is to cover for not embracing the natural JavaScript object model. Prototypal inheritance can be extremely efficient if used properly. No one should have to "shake out" some monstrous library that was poorly designed.

I can't emphasize enough how mostly terribly JavaScript is today. And TypeScript is practically fucking Java, so no fucking thank you. I wish all the snobby Java "mavens" (pun sorry) would go home and leave other languages the fuck alone.

Like seriously, who let these bozos make these calls on beating up a language? Other than async/await and some useful syntactic sugar, they tanked it. Reminds me of the Perl 6 efforts. Slightly more successful, but only because TypeScript. ES6 on its own is a hot mess of stupid.

Mostly I hate the impact of ES6 on JavaScript. The modules are terribly inconvenient and the classes are a clunky facade over a completely classless object system. Plus they Java-fied it for nothing because the Java freaks moved to TypeScript anyway. Disappointing mess.

real talk: being gen X kind of sucks right now because our boomer parents are all dying, sick, and, or, suffering from dementia. we are a very self sufficient cohort, and proud of it, but don't underestimate the shit we're likely going through. as ever, kindness first.

@arangodb Have you considered a more streamlined logo? It may sound silly, but I honestly was put off by the current one for years. I only recently really gave ArangoDB a serious look and I'm very impressed. I knocked together a logo concept for your consideration. 😅
