There was a perception that Red Sox fans scapegoated Bill Buckner for the '86 World Series. These were the fans that gave him thunderous ovation at Opening Days in '87, '90 and 2008. True fans respected Buckner as one of the grittiest players to ever wear the uniform. RIP, Bill.
