🗣️🎙️ Susan Holt, Premier of New Brunswick. Alright, you curiouser and curiouser Herle Burly-ites. The Honourable @susanholt, Premier of New Brunswick, the one and only remaining Liberal Premier in Canada, has graciously made time for us today. I don’t want to give too much of this away because I want to talk more about her life and why she got into politics, but Premier Holt became the 35th, and the first woman Premier of New Brunswick, just over 13 months ago. Prior to that, she had been leading of the Official Opposition Liberal Party in the Legislative Assembly since 2023.  She’s been a business leader. A champion of community involvement. And spent many years working with government on economic policy. So again, we’ll do a deeper dive into Premier Holt’s bio today, and what animates her political life. We’ll talk about the front burner political issues in New Brunswick. I want to get her thoughts on Prime Minister Carney’s national economic plan and Budget 2025. And then we’ll do a bit on Federal/Provincial relations. In an act that will devastate New Brunswick and American workers, businesses and the economy, Donald Trump announced 25% tariffs on Canadian goods beginning at midnight on February 4th. It is time for Canada to stand strong and united against the threat of tariffs. I’ve just met with my fellow premiers and the prime minister, and Team Canada is prepared to hit back with a forceful response. Our team will use every tool in our toolbox to defend and support New Brunswickers and put an end to these tariffs. It's now more important than ever to build up our economy, buy local, and get to work seizing the opportunities we have across New Brunswick and our country.

We are taking the threat of tariffs seriously. At today’s First Ministers' meeting we solidified our plan to protect Canadian businesses and our economy. New Brunswick is the most US-trade exposed province in Canada with 92% of our exports going to the United States. Our government is preparing for all scenarios. Together, we’ll head to Washington on February 12th to continue to push against tariffs. --- Nous prenons au sérieux la menace d’imposition de tarifs douaniers. À la Rencontre des premiers ministres aujourd’hui, nous avons renforcé notre plan visant à protéger les entreprises canadiennes et notre économie. Le Nouveau-Brunswick est la province canadienne la plus exposée à d’éventuels tarifs douaniers, puisque 92 % de nos exportations sont destinées aux États-Unis. Notre gouvernement se prépare à tous les scénarios. Nous ferons front commun à Washington le 12 février pour continuer à faire pression contre les tarifs douaniers.
