A disturbing incident has emerged from the Naraini Kotwali area of Banda district, where a 20-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted by her own family members in public.
A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, triggering concern and outrage.
According to initial information, the woman had expressed her desire to leave with a young man from another community, which her family had reportedly opposed for some time.
The disagreement escalated, leading to a violent confrontation on a village road.
In the viral video, family members, including her parents and brother, are allegedly seen dragging her by the hair and repeatedly hitting her.
The woman appears to resist and defend herself, while an elderly bystander briefly intervenes in an attempt to stop the assault.
However, the attack is seen continuing shortly afterward.
The woman sustained injuries in the incident and has been admitted to Banda Medical College, where she is currently undergoing treatment.
Naraini Kotwali In-charge Inspector Ram Dinesh Tiwari stated that the video has come to the attention of the police. However, no formal written complaint has been filed by either party so far.
Police officials have said that appropriate legal action will be taken once a complaint is received.
The incident has raised serious concerns about violence within families and public safety.
