gumroad shows you exactly how much money any product has made and nobody is using this go to any gumroad product page. right click. view page source. ctrl+F "sales_count" that's the real number. not the one on the page that sellers can hide. now do this: go to gumroad.com/discover. pick any category. open the top 50 products. check every single sales_count. you now know exactly what's selling. how many copies. at what price. you can calculate their exact revenue to the dollar. i did this for 3 weeks straight and built a spreadsheet of 300+ products. here's what the data exposed: the top 1% of gumroad products aren't original ideas. they're the same 12 problems repackaged in slightly different ways for slightly different audiences. cold email templates. resume builders. notion dashboards. content calendars. invoice templates. client proposal docs. boring shit that nobody wants to make because it doesn't feel "creative" enough. the $200K+ products all had three things in common: one specific problem in the title. not "business toolkit" but "cold DM scripts for landing freelance clients." priced between $29-$54. nothing above. nothing below. the seller had less than 3,000 followers on every platform. most had less than 800. now here's the actual exploit: find a product doing 5,000+ sales. read the 1-star reviews. every single complaint is a product gap. "wish it included X" "didn't cover Y" "not specific enough for Z" those complaints are your product. literally build what the bad reviews are asking for. price it $5-$10 higher than the original. target the exact same audience. you're not competing. you're filling the gap the first person left open. the reviews are free market research. the sales count is free validation. the price is already tested for you. every single piece of data you need to build a $5K/month product is sitting on gumroad's page source right now. and you're over here running polls on twitter asking "what should i build" while the answer is one right click away.
