I went out to get a few images of the fire in Squirrel Hill. Looks like they had turned a corner on the fire, but I didn’t see any N95 respirators anywhere. Just a couple baggy blue masks, which don’t help much with smoke. 😷😶🌫️

Huge plume of dark smoke visible over Squirrel Hill this morning as apartment on Forward (right off parkway) appears to be ablaze. Fire dept already on the scene and looks to be getting it under control. Traffic backed up in all directions. Hope everyone's ok!

The murders of Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim are abhorrent, but what concerns me the most is to see people trivializing or even celebrating their deaths. Killing civilians does nothing to free Palestine. Violence like this hurts Jews, Israelis, and Palestinians.

National Steel wanted to abandon this plant in 1982, long before NAFTA. National sold plant to workers to limit pensions they were responsible for.
In 2022 the Inflation Reduction Act all but paid for new battery plant on site which opened last year.

I love when a monopoly utility tells me I have to call them for safety reasons and then proceeds to make it impossible for me to actually reach them because of their unfunctional automated systems

Millions of $ are available for clean air and health projects in the Mon Valley, through @PennEnvironment & @CleanAirCouncil's legal victory over US Steel. Applications through Jefferson Regional Foundation open early next year, but residents can offer input next month.
