Because it’s fucking lame to walk a star player 4 times. It’s bad for the sport and it’s not athleticism it’s avoiding confrontation athletically.
4 walks on purpose bc you know a batter is strong should bring equalization. A penalty. Make pitchers pitch and make batters bat. Rules change over the years on purpose.
