On a fun personal note, my dad was a freshman at Penn when the Quakers went to the Final Four in 1979. Really cool getting to cover them in an NCAA tournament game tonight.

This is a safe space. Unleash the biggest, mostly unserious overreaction you have about the Guardians in the comments below. No judgment. No bookmarks. Just unfettered emotion that we all know to take with a grain of salt.

@CleGuardians Thanks Vogt and Willis for unnecessarily throwing Williams, with a history of a bad elbow, 126 pitches a few outings ago. Two awful outings since then.

@JoeNogaCLE @hoynsie Nice podcast but beyond the fact that Williams was still wiped out last night, isn’t throwing him 126 pitches unnecessarily a bad idea when so many pitchers now burn out their arms and need Tommy John? Look at Bieber! Why take chances? Our pen usually good.

@JacobsFieldRBW Whatever you think of him, throwing him 126 pitches last game was absurd. Had nothing tonight and the wear and tear risks injury.

Gavin Williams entered today with 4.75 BB/9 and a 1.26-run difference between his ERA and his FIP. I am not a believer in him as a future ace and have not been for quite some time.

@HoodiGarland He got us a championship and I’m unlikely to see another one in Cleveland. No resentment of him or LeBron whatsoever.

Kyrie Irving on why he left the Cavs: “I love Cleveland. I’m appreciative of all the things that they’ve done for me. It’s not that I disliked playing with Bron at any time, it was just literally my time to move on, and that’s what people gotta accept. It was my decision.”

@CleGuardians Why, in an era of Tommy John surgery, you would let an ace pitcher stay in the game after Soto’s HR to throw 125 pitches is utterly baffling.

@ZackMeisel Here’s a miracle. The Cavs won the title in 2016. Because besides that, we have the worst sports luck of any city, over and over and over.

Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase has been placed on non-disciplinary paid leave through Aug. 31 as part of the league’s gambling investigation. Luis Ortiz is already under the same parameters.

@CleGuardians Why oh why would you bring out Logan Allen to start the 7th? With a better than average bullpen, why does Vogt always leave starters in too long and give up leads?

No problem having Cecconi go out for the 9th, but Vogt should've had someone ready when Kurtz tripled...
