Thorpeness, Suffolk. Edwardian fantasy village built c.1910 by Glencairn Stuart Ogilvie. The Meare boating lake dominates the centre, with the famous “House in the Clouds” water tower. Shingle coast constantly reshaped by erosion, with Sizewell power stations visible to the north #Thorpeness #aerial #Coast

A May Day many moons ago when I (in the pinky-purple skirt) danced around the Maypole on Brandiston Common with my classmates, while the wonderful Mr Kett played the accordion. I can still hear that TaaaaDaaaa! first chord echoing across the years.

As the day draws to a close, here's another one from this morning to show why I got up at 4.30am and cycled deep into the north Essex countryside. A six mile ride this morning followed by a six mile walk in the Suffolk countryside this afternoon. A perfect day.

OT...Finally got to visit the Suffolk Victorian 'holiday village' of Thorpeness today, somwhere I've wanted to visit for decades. It's absolutely charming, especially the 'House in the Clouds' a former (disguised) water tower. The super spring weather helped things too.🌞

A mix of clear spells and showers first thing on Tuesday ☔ Showers often most frequent in Scotland where they could turn heavy and thundery ⛈️ A mild start with winds easing in the south 🌬️

Everything's gone yellow, a familiar view at this time of year in East Anglia. A view from the train to Norwich right now.

It's a dog's life. After a good night of sleep, and a long day of sleep, there's nothing Lottie likes more than having a little sleep before bedtime.

My walk around Blakeney this afternoon revealed that one neighbour has, through brutal "pruning" and soil compaction, managed to kill off most of of the old trees that once made up the Old Rectory's orchard; another has scraped out a late friend's garden, complete with daffs in bloom. Funny old world, eh?
