Whoo: The poorly written (and maddening) endings for @expedition33 Whee: Literally everything else about the game which was brilliant, artistic and joyous. Esquie is the bestest and smartest and fluffiest!!!

Watching BBC News about the bin strikes and steel furnace and it's impossible not to see this as a very visible sign of the inevitable structural decline that comes with neo-liberalism.

@OT_Expert You're welcome! It's probably my favourite MOHO based assessment (just edging out the OCAIRS).

Delighted to say that we won Team of The Year at the @westlondonnhs AHP Awards this week! It's a privilege to be the Clinical Lead OT of an amazing team, seeing all the hard work in redesigning the service make a real difference to patient care & outcomes :) #occupationaltherapy

@Keirwales I think it's a great idea and there should be some experiential sessions e.g. running a mock therapeutic group to showcase practice. *However*, right now there's a 0% chance our Trust would fund anything beyond a fee and travel (and that requires a long application form)

How much could we charge for that? How much would you/your organisation pay for 2 days conference, accommodation, 2 lunches and 1 evening meal? Pop your answer below and tell me anything else that would need to be part of it.

I often walk away from The OT Show with stupid ideas but.... If we put on a 2 day face to face mental health OT conference Somewhere accessible but not London Keynote speakers and breakout sessions Some free lived experience places and lived experience speakers

@shanemoynihan Ah, I remember the old NTA websites promising 'Line F' to Lucan would likely be built by 2014... Good times 😂

Lucan needs a Luas. Good, reliable public transport isn’t a nice to have, it is a core quality of life issue. If elected I will lead the campaign to get a Luas for Lucan. #ge24 #dublinmidwest

Purely out of curiosity, does anyone @AOTInews and/or @VdTMoCAFUK know if anywhere in Ireland is using the VdT MOCA as a practice model? I've tried looking before but got nowhere. If not, I wonder why not?

Another day, another study telling us what Occupational Therapists have known for *decades* 🤦 How do these studies get away with assuming they've made a novel contribution? bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

@Sheraz_Ahmad_ We've effectively phased them out in favour of looking at underpinning occupational performance components. So that involves groups, observations, conversations, interactions etc. It's designed to be both more comprehensive and supportive and feel less intrusive.

And how well would any of us cook, clean, launder etc in an unfamiliar setting? How would you feel about being assessed on how well you make a spaghetti bolognese? ADL assessments are essential but the way do them limited especially on a ward

The way someone behaves on an inpatient psychiatric ward is not representative of how/ who they are at home/ supermarket/ community - as my OT colleagues have taught me the environment is a major factor in itself that makes people behave/ respond a certain way #rehabpsych

I sometimes just get so frustrated and fed up with the disrespect towards/lack of knowledge about #OccupationalTherapy from other teams/professions. The need for repeated advocacy, at times, for the bare minimum of respect can be very tiring.

@JadeThorne9 @westlondonnhs Just make sure they're better written than Kermit's...🧐 I'm fed up reading his nonsense about Miss Piggy: nothing to do with Trust priorities.

@AyoCaesar It has a huge impact on how patients experience care. Until we got one-off funding, we provided Occupational Therapy to acutely unwell MH patients with broken games, jigsaws with missing pieces & stained/scratched kitchen equipment. How can that feel therapeutic & person-centred?

Flaking paint, cracks and water ingress through the ceilings, inadequate and fading signage: it doesn't make you feel like your loved one (or yourself!) is in the best possible place or getting the best possible care. It might be silly or shallow, but it makes a big emotional difference!

I know it's not the biggest problem in the NHS – and it's not from lack of care or diligence from the staff – but there's no way that hospitals should look as shabby as they do in the world's 6th largest economy.

Never underestimate the power of Britney Spears in helping build a therapeutic relationship with a service user 🙂🙂 Also, in an opinion poll in our ward therapeutic group today, she beat Taylor Swift!!!!

There is definitely something to be said for having Annual Leave where you don't 'go' anywhere and just hang out. Walking along the Southbank after lunch at Borough Market (inc. Monmouth Coffee obviously!) and it is.... Nice.
