The most laughable part about the government increasing STT, LTCG, and STCG is that instead of getting more tax revenue, they’re actually getting less tax revenue.
Higher taxes make the market fall, due to which people earn no returns at all. When nobody makes money, nobody pays taxes either. The govt’s tax collection becomes ₹0.
However, if taxes were lower, say a flat 5%, the market would likely perform better, people would earn returns and pay taxes. At least the government would collect “something.”
Additionally, higher taxes due to which FIIs are selling, has also contributed to pressure on the rupee, creating even more financial stress for India.
I personally feel that the govt needs to abolish STT, LTCG, STCG on an urgent basis if they truly want to protect India’s future and also save their own image.

Within 5 years India will be short of plumbers, electricians, carpenters, drivers, nurses and care givers etc as they will migrate to high income countries.
High income countries are facing demographics collapse and Indian blue collar is the answer.
But don’t worry… we will be left with kids who have white collar degrees with no jobs in India and no requirements in high income countries.

@MaxChess_ One of the weaknesses that I see is that he pushes too much, he is not satisfied by a draw he chooses moves that put him at a sight disadvantage to make complications instead of keeping the game equal by a boring move. It's very entertaining to watch but sometimes backfires

This is the exact point I’ve been making for a while. Rote learning is helping students pass classes and even interviews but is not preparing them for the actual job. Layer on a shortage of qualified teachers and it becomes clear many “graduates” are graduating without any useful skills.

Judith deserved the Netflix documentary more than anyone. She is unique and an inspiration for many generations of girls to come. The only (so far) women being at some point top ten in male world rankings. Probably in whole sports in general. True star 💫

"Clearly good enough" is a bad definition to select a player in FIDE Candidates.
Unless we return to wild card system in Candidates (not under my watch!), it can't work.
"He doesn't really have time for" is more alarming tho. Really? We are talking about qualification to the most important tournament in two years. How come a top pro, who is supposed to qualify by rating that proves he is still a very top pro, does not have time? It is wrong on so many levels.
The requirements were actually very modest - and in a hindsight too modest, easy to game. Our fault. But to call a requirement to actually play chess "wild" is wild.
Going forwards, I'll submit a proposal, eliminating rating spot altogether towards Candidates-2028.
Wolrd Cup, Grand Swiss, FIDE Circuit, and now Total World Championship Tour will be the paths to qualify.
