@gonglei89 @przidnt1 @kai_incognito49 I enjoyed it, and especially liked how it captured how Mafty were a guerilla force that had to be constantly in hiding. Part of me wishes it were a longer series so the character interactions among Hathaway's crew could be better developed.

I wonder if this isn't a more implicit symptom of the kind of game-ic realism in serialized work that Azuma Hiroki writes about, with plots basically following the default narrative trajectory of ttrpg parties who start out as random murder-hobos turning into epic-lecel heroes.

The Expanse, Fast and Furious, Mission Impossible all posit that at a certain point you prestige out of standard criminality into a sort of robber knighthood where you have so much ability you have a responsibility to use your powers ethically

Imagine back in the heyday of online essay mills, if the push had been to teach students to use essay mills ethically and to develop essay mill strategies. Or if we had accepted that essay mills were okay for grammar and organization but taught Ss to make the essays their own.

Thinking about the anime series Japan Sinks 2020, its treatment of crisis and disaster as a prolonged "chronic" condition instead of a singular event, and how the temporal marker in its title accidently turns it into something almost like a premediation of the (post-) pandemic.

If youre not cross referencing and checking every AI "source" synthesized or wuotes extracted by AI, then youre 100% citing fabricated evidence and inaccurate syntheses. Quotes taken out of context, attributed to wrong source, and summaries that miss the point entirely. 1/2

the labour party is possibly going to have the virtual collapse of the welsh university system on its hands soon (after cardiff already devastated by cuts), but watch them still not care

@VK_HM @sspringnotes While not canonically confirmed, as far as I know, it really does make sense given the Kobali's own assimilative processes of reproduction via re-animation.

@sspringnotes Yeah. Kind of looks like the Borg Queen (absent the cybernetics) which make some think that the Queen might be originally Kobali.

@HistorianZhang My experience with it so far suggests that it does better with longer material and can struggle somewhat with mixed content material. It also seems to tend towards more false negatives to minimize false positives.

Is Pangram able to distinguish between texts that are fully AI-generated and texts that are written in another language and then machine translated? Or do both of these get classified as AI generated work?

@fredleept @chang_koo Drawing from it's Spanish colonial legacy, the Philippines also uses this language of mestizos and chinos locally to refer to mixed people.

@chang_koo Interesting, so maybe "wasian" is US mestizaje at work. "Mestizo" was reserved for white-indigenous mixes in Spanish colonial castas system. Mestizo, in other words, had "white" in it (cf. Chino, Mulato, etc), albeit less explicitly than "wasian" does.
