RV water pump replacement: a success story 🧵 The mounting screws for the old mound are so rusty and fucked that I could only remove one of them, gave up on the rest and just cut the rubber mount off the pump. It was in a shitty spot anyway. Mounted the new pump in an easier spot to get to and work on, stripped the wires on house and pump ends and connected them WAY better than the last connections, then hooked up the inlet and outlet lines using the existing connectors (that seemed fine). I ran a couple gallons into the tanks and turned the puppy on - immediate spraying leak at the outlet connector. Bad. 1. I guess I could have blown it by not bleeding the air out of the lines by leaving a faucet open. 2. Whatever. The new pump came with four new connectors. First tried a straight one and that leaked too - maybe due to my bad work crimping the reinforced hose over the barbed adaptor fitting. Hooked up one of thw angled connectors and properly crimped. Then I turned on the pump allowing the air to bleed out of the lines via open faucets, waited a few minutes watching the pump and connections, then closed off the faucets and added about a half tank worth of water. Tested the whole thing again...great pressure, no leaks, and the pump cycled off meaning no air leaks like the last one had. Hell yeah. 1/2
