That being said, we def eat way too much meat overall, and we should all try to eat as locally as possible (both meat and vegetables). Not always that easy in this economy under capitalism if you're not a rich and famous pop singer however ✌🏻

This is such a naive and privileged take 😭 Some people don't realize, that in most countries, if it wasn't for extensive international import/export you wouldn't even be able to go full vegan, let alone sustain a healthy diet. This is performative at best.

Part of loving the animal is respecting the animal, an animal in the wild won't hesitate to eat. That's the food chain that's the cycle of life, we're not removed from the food chain and will never be. You respect the animal by treating like it would treat you and others, eating!

@_rum_pumpumpum i had meant to say seal hunting, which is very important to inuit people. as someone who grew up learning about indigenous cultures and practices i am of the opinion that they probably love and respect animals more than most vegans who hold this opinion

I think most people hate vegans because they individualize the problem of the meat industry and refuse to actually organize against capitalism to legitimately challenge the systems that make the meat industry so odious

Humanity hasn’t been apart of the food chain in a long time. The animals we eat are grossly overpopulated because they are being bred to meet the meat demand of 8 billion people while wild animal populations continue to shrink. That’s literally the opposite of the food chain.

Vegans don’t claim to be perfect. We believe slaughterhouses are fundamentally wrong just like dog fighting and there is no way to do them ethically so we boycott.
We still participate in imperfect industries, just not non reformable ones

I’ve tried so many times to go vegetarian because I love animals but whenever I cut meat out of my diet I get very sick. I work with dogs professionally, I love animals. But I have to prioritize my health. I get ethically sourced local meat, you can love animals and eat meat.

If eating meat is inherently wrong our bodies would not need B12 (not found in plants), heme iron, zinc, vitamin 1, or D. Being vegan is fine, but it’s not “inherently correct”
