@HoopsEmpire_ The best comp is a combo of Tatum & Brown, but what they were by year 6 or so in terms of passing and strength/post ability.

@_JasonLT It's really really hard to see how you put Luka on another tier when he's so exploitable on the other end.

This is true. And I think Luka is on another tier above Tatum as a basketball player. But still interesting to see this type of superstar battle.
tetteh@NelsonAlphonse

@_JasonLT Please Tatum doesn’t have to carry the offensive load Luka is carrying. He has more help on both sides of the game

Such a weird series from the superstar angle. Luka has been brilliant offensively, yet has been the main weak point in their defense. Tatum is 11 for 30 but has been brilliant in every other facet of the game.

@AdamTaylorNBA I loved the late-game chins where they used Tatum as the passer and Brown as the cutter. Felt very dynamic, especially with Brown's ability to bully when he gets it down low.

The Celtics have had a ton of success with Chin actions this season. I think this possession against the Suns shows why having Tatum operate as the cutter can be so effective. Watch how his cut pulls in the low help and opens up the skip pass for the Horford 3.

@BillSimmons Why would you do deeper than 8 in a game you are circling on the regular season calendar?

Early thoughts… 1. Middleton in 2023 has zero chance defending Tatum. Zero. 2. Not sure who’s been worse, Dame or Jrue. 3. Seems like Joe Mazz only trusts 8 guys in this game. You have to think the Celts will make a bench move soon.

@BucksFilmRoom What do the Bucks have left that could be traded for Caruso? They've stripped the cupboard almost completely bare.

Caruso is exactly what the Bucks need. Bulls are 2-4 and headed in the wrong direction. Connaughton’s salary lines up nicely in a Caruso trade…just sayin

@deanondraft @meatanchips Right, he can't go over max even with trade kicker. Bad teams with space will still be fine to pay 35%. It's a positive-value contract, as long as Brad is willing to move it when the right offer comes.

@meatanchips @anaccounthere Actually I don't know if it matters since he can't get paid more than the max, so it will be irrelevant unless cap explodes further such that he is making less than max

Worst contract in the NBA. The point of the supermax is to reward actual stars, not slightly above average starters who luckboxed their way onto an all-NBA team.
Shams Charania@ShamsCharania

BREAKING: Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown has agreed to a five-year, $304 million supermax contract extension with the franchise, per sources. This is the richest deal in NBA history, negotiated by agent Jason Glushon. Fully guaranteed, with a trade kicker. No player option.

@deanondraft @undercleavage An extension does allow him to deal Jaylen to a desperate Detroit/Houston/Charlotte type team next summer. Those deals aren't on the table now, because of the massive flight risk. He could really screw someone with 5 years of Jaylen to trade, Danny Gobert style.

@undercleavage He seems elite. Having a ridiculous offseason so far, scooping value at every twist and turn. If he trades Jaylen rather than extending he’s in conversation for #1

Jordan Walsh was supposed to be just a defensive player, but he is balling out on both ends today. Amazing that Boston got 4 future round 2 picks to trade down for him when he was already BPA at their initial pick.

It will be great if these positions of the Ukrainian forces are confirmed as it would mean an advance of 8km in a day on the Melitopol front but I think we should be cautious as this advance would have brought them right through the main Russian defensive line #UkraineRussiaWar

@secretsqrl123 It's poor tactics of the Russians to commit their forces to attack even before the Ukrainians have reached their main defensive line instead of letting the Ukrainians attrit themselves first trying to break through It's either a political decision or very poor millitary planning

from all the reports im seeing right now there is a divisional attack that is going on (or went on) in the south near where the 47th / 128th brigades are in south ukraine. it failed, and im seeing reports from many places that the loss to the russian side is huge. lets wait and see.

@Fireblade577 My question before the counteroffensive was whether Ukraine would be able to generate sufficient pressure without fully committing to be able to get Russia to commit significant reserves. That seems to clearly be a "yes", and then everything you're saying flows cleanly from that

There is a lot of talk about the success or lack there of, of the Ukrainian counter offensive. The fact is though that the majority of the Ukrainian forces allocated for this have yet to be comitted and I would argue that we are just in a more intense phase of shaping operations

Some European military experts argue that probing isn't a good strategy given the lack of air superiority. But it's easy to write anything when you're not actually fighting. moderndiplomacy.eu/2023/06/13/mil…

@AFDudley0 Yes you are right. A lot of confusion in Urbit mental models stems from the weird fact that it predates web3 but also is well-suited for it. Path dependence.

"urbit is not web3" is where a lot of my confusion comes from. If we think about urbit as part of the larger web3 ecosystem a lot of these issues are resolved and it seems clear that urbit should leverage WASM and run in the browser. urbit shouldn't target unix?

Urbit is more like a state channel framework than an operating system. This is probably the shortest path to solidifying justification for urbit chain. It also clarifies some glaring issues with nock.

@Fireblade577 @noclador One possible difference here is that the non-mobile Russian troops holding the lines might be very, very low-quality relative to the mobile reserves. It's not the Wehrmacht. It's hard to evaluate this strategy without fully knowing that information.

@noclador But wouldn't that basically be Soviet WW2 tactics where they wore down the German reserve which consisted of the minority of the units which were mobile by fircing them to rapidly move around to respond? This was a very costly method of winning the war for the Soviets

@Fireblade577 @secretsqrl123 We learned last summer that US planners discouraged them from doing attacks on both Kherson and Zaporizhya at the same time, to avoid thinning out forces too much. I expect any plans here have been similarly vetted.

@secretsqrl123 Yes but will the Ukrainians then be able to have enough units left then to exploit such a breakthrough? Seems to me they would be in great danger of rerunning the results of the Russian 2022/2023 winter offensive if they go for this WW2 style Soviet army Eastern front strategy...
