@JonesOnTheNBA And smoother…. Can’t believe pre-nba draft when I hadn’t watched him much I thought this was a KD archetype.

Every time I watch AJ I see a remix of Siakam. Downhill menace at 6’9”. He’s stronger than Siakam was out the gate.

@JonesOnTheNBA @Tjonesonthenba Don’t feel like the defensive aspect gets talked about enough. Not a lot of elite talent offensive guards without major defensive question marks. Boozer to me is a safer floor (just so obviously winning nba player) but dp to me is the easiest star projection in the class.

What I like about Peterson’s first half: wojo gave him a long break, the Jazz got down 12, he came back and took over. Shows real competitiveness

@shoooobb 100%. I saw your mention of the flatness of the shot and couldn’t agree more. Luckily he might be one of the best rim pressure prospects in awhile so he’ll have time to figure it out. Only worry is he gets to jumper happy and settles more often than not.

Dybantsas shot still seems overrated to me. The three point release is low and does not look super smooth to me. Think the mid range will be above average (not elite) and 3P will be average but that rim pressure/FT drawing is what will make him special.

@Collinbutr As a UNC fan I was convinced he was going to stay 2-3 years. The offense was so raw and no surprise he’s still nowhere near NBA level in year 2. When I saw he entered I was extremely surprised. It was always going to be a project that would not bear any fruit until year 4 if ever

@JBBHoops1 Maybe you’re right but I’d have to think they know better. Nothing is like in game reps. Or maybe we’re just being selfish bc we want to see if our draft takes are right or not😂

@bask3twatch3r I'm with you on valuing any live basketball reps (esp. when some of the gym runs like Rico Hines etc. are glorified pickup and nigh-on useless) but idk if NBA teams value that stuff that much

@JBBHoops1 Not just evaluation but also growth. Trying to get these guys into the feel, working on their game is impossible when they can’t even get the ball up the court and get into an offense. It has been horrible at times.

@bask3twatch3r Summer League doesn't amount to much end of day, maybe that's what they're thinking? But if teams want to use it to fairly evaluate these end of roster guys, well that data would be a lot better IF these teams had PGs to help organise the O

@dlee4three Love Wilson but not sure I’d call his passing polished. From a decision making and feel still looks like he has a lot to grow. The touch is on another level though it is crazy.

or maybe it isn’t that crazy and Caleb Wilson’s dominance on the glass, touch, extremely polished passing & overwhelming feel indicators all belied him being exceptionally skilled and more likely to develop rapidly x.com/100guaranteed/…
avi@100guaranteed

the most important precocious skill integration is oreb-assist-stocks this is the ultimate functional athleticism x feel proxy, a synthesis of skills that exponentially raises ceiling beyond perception of raw box stats/bpm lots and lots of instructive developmental stories here

.52 3PR is crazy in a vacuum for Wilson to put up after a 24 games sample where he attempted just 27 (.09 3PR) but it’s even wilder that ~8 of his 3PA were OTD step backs AND several were feet behind the line AND every single one was effortlessly fluid

Caleb Wilson is such a difficult read . His touch is legitimately insane his shot is great, athleticism is great but no ball handling, horrible decision making, bad motor and tweener? Has there ever been a prospect with such a match of elite traits and major weaknesses.

@ckeller141 I see you mentioned motor but also seems to be motor + coordination. Not only does he not have a high motor he doesn’t have the ability to put his body in positions to make plays on both sides of ball. Just looks really uncomfortable.

@dlee4three @Flawlesslikeeli Not to say the premise is totally flawed like it’s super cool of you to do it. But to tell someone “No r^2 actually told me it’s significant” is just not a correct statistical argument. Thats all. (Also ofc R^2 says nothing about significance but that’s mostly pedantic).

@dlee4three @Flawlesslikeeli When answering “what predicts future player performance” and then trying to use SL data you are going to be really really inaccurate even if your data is “significant”. A 3 game preszn sample gives too much variation and what you’re catching is just way too noisy.

@nsitto2 These are super diff situations, Wemby can afford to take pay cuts as they have more money coming in through other sources like endorsements and a bigger guarantee of future contracts. This is a very different situation, this could likely be durens only chance.

AJ’s best pro skill right now is downhill ability at his size. He reminds me a lot of Siakam with his downhill skills. He has an aesthetically pleasing mid-range game, but it’s not an efficient tool for him yet. I don’t believe in his 3 ball yet (and I don’t think he does yet either). Better passer than he gets credit for. Wizards will need a spread floor for him to be at his best as a rookie.

@NoWorriesHakuna @JonesOnTheNBA Shooting 50% from long 2s in today’s NBA is not going to cut it, and that is assuming the % won’t drop at all. Still think his way to being an elite championship player is at the rim first, developing a 3 and using the mid range as a counter/backup to teams that give him space.

@Three_Cone So clearly unguardable at that size if I was his couch would not let him take a mid range unless he’s being guarded like 2010 Bron. Just ridiculous how easy it is for him to get to paint.
