Network configuration analysis has always been the domain of commercial-grade software. Batfish changes all that with an open source, community-supported tool that can find errors and guarantees the correctness of planned or current network configurations. Ratul Mahajan joins Tom Ammon and Russ White to talk about this new tool, its capabilities, and the importance of network configuration analysis. rule11.tech/hedge-213/

Made a few commits into Batfish this week and learned about ANTLR. Pretty cool stuff, looking forward to more of all that.

At SIGCOMM '23 tomorrow, Dan Halperin will present a paper that I can only describe as labor of love. It describes our key learnings while turning @batfish_ from a research toy to an industrial-strength network verification tool. dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/36…

Have you ever wondered how well you are testing network configurations? Are you exercising all clauses of important route maps? Xieyang Xu just released NetCov tool to do just that! Check out the code at github.com/UWNetworksLab/… and a short video at youtube.com/watch?v=FcBD2L…

It integrates nicely with (py)batfish and requires minimal changes to your existing test code.

get those safeguards for free @ batfish.org then have your org contact @intentionet and sure Ill shut up about it when y’all deploy it and the preventable outages stop
simone ferlin-reiter@si_ferlin

@enoclue Well, yes. It's surprising that knowing the consequences of the changes down the path, there are no safe-guarding mechanisms (test) before the hand ... hits enter.
