@Captain_Deltic Haha, yes - and I have a radio face! I agree with you - the magic of radio is you can go into depth and you can change running orders to suit what is happening or what people want to hear. It’s company, it’s a friend and it’s a medium which will never fade away.

@Captain_Deltic @Heidi_Labour I'm one of many who appreciate your forensic journalism.
You are spot on about "boringly reliable" (I spent two weeks in Switzerland over the New Year), and also about the wooliness of "sustainable".
And a bonus point for being an entertaining writer!
English

@bathwellschap @Heidi_Labour The standout issue for me is her claim that the current level of subsidy is "unsustainable" without saying what subsidy would be sustainable.
Otherwise says some sensible things, but nothing new.
Mostly harmless.
English

It's official!
I've been banging on for years about the importance of creating a "boringly reliable railway".
Now it's official Government policy.
In her George Bradshaw address last night the @Heidi_Labour vision included the railway "striving to become boringly reliable"
English

@Captain_Deltic @Heidi_Labour Looking forward to any deep dive you do into your Word copy !
English

@bathwellschap @Heidi_Labour A quick flick through when I cut and pasted it in Word and saved it.

@bathwellschap 😂 I’m from Lynas stock too my mums side were Lynas !
English

@networkrailwest @GWRHelp I think you must mean 1,000 trains per day..
If there's 48 per hour, the junction only needs to operate for a couple of hours to get to 100 per day.
Graphics typo, not checked?

It's #clergymaltclub time again.
I'll be posting, but not here - where the skies are blue...
English

@PeterHancock_ Well it has to be said that if there was a regular modern train service from Guildford to Brighton it would improve things in your part of the world no end!
English

@bathwellschap Thank you Stephen,
There is still a memory here about the station and some people say it should never have closed.

Suitably bucolic with faded paint, the signalman & driver of Billinton E5X 32570 exchange single line staffs at Cranleigh in August 1954. 32570 would be the last surviving E5X in service from July 1955 on, being withdrawn from 75D Horsham Shed during January 1956.

@Captain_Deltic @gceccles @RAIL @trailersecond @Modern_Railways Travelled from Clapham Junction to East Croydon the other day.
It occurred to me that if TFL where ever to take this over as Overground, it should be named the Buddleia Line.
English

@gceccles @RAIL But see @trailersecond on the latest proposed innovative use of AI in his @Modern_Railways column last month

@ChurchTimes @seatrout You'd hope, after all the time you've written for the paper, they would spell your name right🙂
