@RoseBudd4299 @EndymionYT That's not a normal black character.. you can tell that from the picture alone. That is heavily consulted DEI character that is there for DEI purpose only. It looks very out of place...

I’ve been playing SAROS to see what Sony’s next exclusive is like & honestly it just kind of feels like I’m playing Returnal again, not bad but I’m not blown away either. Characters feel dull, the world looks cool but I beat the first boss “Prophet” with 4 runs so far in the game total & I kind of already feel like I’m going through the motions with the game. So far the game is pretty easy, the skill tree is basic you just mindlessly plug stuff in to level up permanently which is fine but so far it just feels like I’m playing Returnal on games journalist difficulty or something. It’s okay so far, I’ll keep going. But having played what I played of SAROS so far, I think it’s time to move on from roguelites imo. This is fine but…ehh. Controls are great & I really like the sound design, probably the two best things about the game so far. But as a first party exclusive I’m not blown away either. I’ll keep going

Pedro Pascal and Florence Pugh are the latest actors to condemn Paramount buying Warner Bros. in an open letter that's now been signed by more than 2,000 Hollywood names. "We are deeply concerned by indications of support for this merger that prioritize the interests of a small group of powerful stakeholders over the broader public good. The integrity, independence, and diversity of our industry would be grievously compromised," read the letter. "Competition is essential for a healthy economy and a healthy democracy. So is thoughtful regulation and enforcement. Media consolidation has already weakened one of America's most vital global industries—one that has long shaped culture and connected people around the world." variety.com/2026/film/news…

26 years ago today, AMERICAN PSYCHO was released. But the film almost never got made the way we know it. At Cannes 1998, Lionsgate executives stood up and announced Leonardo DiCaprio would play Patrick Bateman. There was just one problem. They hadn't told the director. 👇 Mary Harron had come aboard in 1997 after the project had already been through Stuart Gordon (with Johnny Depp), David Cronenberg (with Brad Pitt), and Bret Easton Ellis (the source novel's author) on script duties. She co-wrote a new version with Guinevere Turner and had one actor in mind for Bateman: Christian Bale. Bale was, at this point, years away from the Batsuit. The studio wasn't convinced. "They would've taken almost anybody over Christian," Harron told The Guardian. When she offered him the part, Bale told her his answering machine was full of messages telling him it was career suicide. That, he said, only made him more excited. Then came Cannes. Fresh off Titanic, DiCaprio was the biggest star on the planet, and Lionsgate announced him as Bateman without consulting either Harron or Bale. Harron refused to even meet with him. "Leonardo wasn't remotely right," she said. "There's something very boyish about him. He's not credible as one of these tough Wall Street guys. He brought way too much baggage with him; I did not want to deal with someone who had a 13-year-old fan base. They shouldn't see the movie. It could've gotten us in a lot of trouble." Harron wouldn't budge. So the studio moved on her instead and fired her. DiCaprio reportedly submitted his own shortlist of replacement directors, including Martin Scorsese and Danny Boyle. Lionsgate went with Oliver Stone. Harron's verdict: "Probably the single worst person to do it. I like Stone's stuff, but social satire is not his forte." Producer Edward Pressman put it more diplomatically: "Oliver's approach was more psychological. Mary's was satirical." The DiCaprio-Stone version lasted one meeting. Bret Easton Ellis later said the two met about the project once, disagreed heavily on the material, and the whole thing fell apart. DiCaprio walked off to make The Beach with Boyle. The budget, which had ballooned to $40 million to accommodate DiCaprio's reported $21 million fee, was suddenly homeless. Lionsgate came back to Harron, she came back with Bale, and the budget dropped to $7 million. What followed is one of the most committed lead performances of the era: the Tom Cruise-on-Letterman inspiration, the in-character meeting that made Bret Easton Ellis's hands shake, the moonwalk before the axe, the American accent maintained off-set throughout the entire shoot. The film made over $34 million and turned Bale into a huge star. Harron's stand wasn't just creative stubbornness. It was a director refusing to let a studio decide what her film was about. The version Lionsgate wanted with DiCaprio's face, Stone's psychology, and a teen fanbase in tow, would have been a different film entirely. Probably not a good one. Almost certainly not the one that's still being quoted, dissected, and meme'd decades later. Sometimes the most important decision a director makes is the one they refuse to do.
