We all need to realise that a handful of hate posts are mostly eclipsed by kindness. Raise your voice if you are the loving kind. Let me know you! "Every single one of us could use some Mercy Now!"

I’m English but the England flag makes my blood run cold. It’s the badge of thugs and hate. To pretend otherwise is preposterous.

My husband and I were driving from Dewsbury to Wakefield today and saw an old asian man struggling to walk up a steep hill. He was being helped by a young white English lady at the side of the road. We stopped to assist and were told the asian man had collapsed because of the heat and strain of the walk up the hill. The young lady had called her husband to drive out to pick the man up and take him safely home. We stepped in and said we would drive the man home which we did and made sure he was settled before we left. Just a normal day in Dewsbury where communities look out for each other whatever their race, religion or background. Despite all the poison some politicians, think tanks and media commentators seem to spout on a daily basis the beating heart of my country is decent, inclusive and tolerant and cares for its communities ❤️🇬🇧

Tomorrow at Pride in London we’ll send a message to the world: in our city you are free to be whoever you want to be, and love whoever you want to love. We must take a stand against those seeking to roll back hard-won rights.

If you’re gay - you’re born that way ❤️ If you’re trans - you’re born that way ❤️ If you’re a bigot - you made that choice.

Today, I met with Rev. Mae Christie and local Tooting people who came into Parliament to stand in solidarity with the trans community. At a time of rising transphobia and targeted abuse, I’ll always be an ally.

The National Windrush Monument designed by Basil Watson was unveiled at Waterloo Stn in 2022 by Alford Gardener and other #Windrush pioneers. I was proud to be in charge of overseeing and establishing its creation. Happy #WindrushDay but the scandal needs to be resolved urgently

On the 9th anniversary of her killing, all I want is for Jo’s death not to have been in vain. To be remembered as a moment when we realised the dangers of polarisation, extremism & hate. It doesn’t feel like that at the moment- but she wouldn’t want us to give up. #MoreInCommon
