Thirty years after John Candy died, Steve Martin reflected on his deep affection for him and revealed that a longer, more emotional train station scene from Planes, Trains and Automobiles was cut. When John Candy died in 1994, Steve Martin stayed briefly with Candy's widow and children, helping them through an incredibly difficult time. That says a lot about how close they really were.
