See, Africa needs an AI strategy like mad, and I’m not talking only about how we use it to boost productivity. I’m talking about the social buffers we need for the jobs it’ll replace, and all that. For context, we have around 70% of our population being under 30, and soaring unemployment rates. How do you reconcile this with technology that is taking jobs you already don’t have enough of. And no don’t think you can japa your way out of this. The only reason the West ever opened their borders to us is because of their labor deficits (both skilled and unskilled). Now they’ve found technology to gradually replace that, that angle is gone. We can’t treat this as business as usual as a continent.
