@SenBillCassidy How does this address average specialty drugs being priced at $50k or hospital visit at $30k? Until you address private equity in health care we are doomed

Democrats want to send $26B to insurance companies to subsidize silver plans with $6,000 deductibles. Most families DON’T HAVE $6,000 on hand before insurance even helps. A deductible that high is the same as having no insurance at all.

@Inquiringmind53 @AdvaitaEyes @realdocspeaks When 10% of the population are 90% of the cost yes 10 % of bad actors can cause significant increases in cost. Take $100k oncology drugs that add 4 months of life. Many docs would give them for unapproved indications to keep patients hopeful

@bb_rx7 @AdvaitaEyes @realdocspeaks So, because the lowest 10% of actors suck we need insurance? And hard government regulation supposed to do? Thats a lot of extra $$ to defend against stupid. Refusing to fund it at all would be more cost effective.

@AdvaitaEyes @realdocspeaks It’s funny to me that you trust an insurance company more than a doctor to determine the diagnostic tests you need. Or what procedure will best fit your needs. When I say funny, I mean insanely stupid, but I don’t know how to say it nicer.

The ONLY way drug prices go DOWN based on volumes, is when the cost @costplusdrugs pays go down. Because we are the only company to pass on cost reductions , with a standard markup , and charge everyone the same amount , with no membership fees. This is why we are the only company to publish a full price list. But as I said , that's not how insurance companies , hospitals or anyone else in healthcare works
John Asghar MD@JahangirAsgha10

You can structure HSAs to let patients pay cash for meds instead of running everything through PBMs. That alone drops prices. The problem isn’t HSAs. It’s that we limit what the vehicle can do

If you want to cut the cost of healthcare , making sure the pharmacies serving the military off base are paid a little more while the Pbm is paid a lot less , is a good place to start Taxpayers would save a ton of money just paying pharmacies the standard cash price, and a small processing fee to the PBM
InsuranceOligopoly@InsOligopoly

Hey America: Veteran pays pharmacy $0.90 and $0.52 for two blood pressure medications. This is the total, the total paid to pharmacy. For medication, dispensing, counseling. Record keeping. Everything! Simultaneously, the pharmacy benefits manager, who pays nothing, bills and is paid $34 ($17 each prescription) from the @SecWar Does this seem fair?

I continue to support the repeal of Obamacare and replacing it with true free market reforms, not just some rearranging of the current system. My Health Marketplace and Savings Accounts For All Act is the only truly conservative option. newsweek.com/rand-paul-my-p…

@mcuban Why do you think there are $0 premium plans. Where does that money come from - rebates… Sure drug costs can go down, but premiums will go up

This will help you understand why the big PBMs are bad. You can go to lillydirect.com and buy a GLP1 for under $500 and falling. It's cheaper, because no PBM is involved Your company, uses a big PBM for your pharmacy benefits. It charges your company $1300 for a GLP1, which means you pay $1300 during your deductible phase. The PBM then gives the rebate it gets, from the money you paid, to your company. And it won't allow you to buy the GLP1 from lilly direct. No PBM < $500. Big PBM $1300 This is one of many reasons you should show this to your CEO and tell them to switch away from their PBM
Matt DaCosta@thBookOfMatthew

@mcuban @mcuban - Can you explain the significance of this for the layman and, more importantly, how this will benefit everyday Americans? Why do you think Lilly switched? And what will it take to have more Pharma cos switch to a move transparent provider? Thank you!

@realdocspeaks Most are not ‘often’ available for pennies. Most specialty drugs are $50k plus and no discounts. everyone thinks pharma is going to drop prices and it isn’t happening. People are just going to go without or go into crazy debt. Don’t oversimplify the problem

There is no standard definition of specialty drugs! Most of the time, there is nothing special about them, other than the high prices charged by the PBMs. Often, they are available for pennies on the dollar at CostPlusDrugs.com
Frank Driscoll@bb_rx7

@realdocspeaks @Jon_8675309 With specialty drugs now costing $50k, is psoriatic arthritis catastrophic? Is MS? RA? You realize catastrophic insurance cost is not going to be much less then what they pay now… You can’t compare what’s available today vs 1970

The best option is to limit the use of insurance to rare and catastrophic events and let patients shop for the routine care.

@realdocspeaks I wish there was a way for the AMA to start their own not for profit health insurance company. They could cut out the middle man, give autonomy back to doctors, lower consumer costs and increase payments to doctors.

@Jon_8675309 @realdocspeaks It costs $2 billion to develop a drug and it only has 10 years of patent time in the actual market. Those costs to do 3 stage studies and patent laws are created by the government soooo yeah it’s not insurance, it’s pharma creating those costs. They don’t magically disappear
