@LombardIsKing_ Cabby shouldn’t be anywhere but the 9hole. Rice and judge 1/2 hole is what it should be. Rice is a terrible catcher and belli should not play first here with how much value he brings in left. Just bring in a glove first right handed catcher platoon with wells and C will be good

The Yankee lineup when all the guys come back should be SS - Caballero C - Rice RF - Judge 1B - Bellinger DH - Stanton LF - Dominguez CF - Grisham 2B - Rosario 3B - McMahon They’ll never do this but it’ll be a much more efficient lineup

@nick5875 @BobbyMilone29 Madden hasn’t been a very accurate reporter on the insides of the Yankees for a while. While I respect the stuff he says this is more of his opinion than anything.

@BobbyMilone29 When Madden speaks, there’s some truth to it, guess the plan will be Jazz for a RP Trade for Arraez to play 2B Trade for Jeffers And I could see a trade for Paredes if HOU wants to swap his and McMahons contract, sure NYY could throw in a prospect to do it

Madden "Cashman has some work to do filling the holes in the Yankee lineup, but no matter what and soon, he has to get Jazz Chisholm Jr., off his ballclub. Chisholm proclaimed in ST that he’d be seeking an 8-10 yr contract at $35m when he hits free agency next winter".

Why is there a rating bar when you’re searching in Weekend Classic? @MLBTheShow Shouldn’t it be based off Division/Rank?

@RyanGarciaESM And Boone made the decision to bring in Headrick to face 3 righties. So yes Boone blew it by making a dumb pitching change

@DBfromAP @mikedorb1 @AJ_Lich Which is realistically why the Yankees shouldn’t push for him. Need a guy who the whole rotation can trust so that you can actually platoon him. It doesn’t work if guys like Cole say no he won’t catch for me which has happened before.

THREAD: Platoon candidates for Austin Wells at the 2026 Trade Deadline NOT named Ryan Jeffers

@jbknowsalilball @LeekNabers This changes nothing about ur comment. He doesn’t need to be some big hitter. Austin wells was a 700 ops bat last season and a top 5 defensive catcher in the league. If ur making a deal for a catcher it’s to be his backup and it’s a defense first guy who can hit lefties.

@bbalfanatic @LeekNabers I don’t really care if he has a .588 OPS or a .670 OPS. He’s never proven to be an above average hitter

If the Yankees trade for Ryan Jeffers it should be strictly to platoon with Austin wells IF that: Ryan Jeffers fWAR: 2024: 1.6 2025: 2.1 Austin Wells fWAR 2024: 3.5 2025: 3.0 Austin Wells’ impact on defense greatly outweighs the offense difference Jeffers brings And Wells was an average to above average bat relative to catchers last year Austin Wells also leads qualified catchers in DRS so far in 2026. Why does this stupid fanbase think he is an issue?

@Srechter7 No no the guy with a 2.87 era as a Yankee is very clearly becoming Yankee Sonny gray. He actually wants to be him so bad that he faked an injury so he can throw with his right arm instead of his left.

@jbknowsalilball @LeekNabers it’s incredibly unlikely that wells is a 588 ops guy by the time 162 has been played and I’m not sure how Patrick Bailey fits ur example. The giants traded Bailey purely for the shock effect in hopes that some change will get them going. It won’t bc that’s not how it works.

@LeekNabers I wouldn’t call this take “stupid”. Wells helps on the defensive side of the ball, but in a lineup that gravely relies on power, you can’t have dead weight bats. It’s why SF traded Patrick Bailey

@BillOC714 @pamsson I am intrigued on doval’s last outing tho. Not a single slider thrown. If the plan is to have him do that for the short term I think he can pretty easily be at worst ur 4th best reliever now.

Bill@BillOC714·
@bbalfanatic @pamsson Yea that’s fair. For me Doval is the least effective immediate term and has the most to work on. Blackburn is probably the least effective long/med term but if he’s getting outs now… If they made the move though it would be Bird regardless of what either of us think

The Yankees have been pretty damn aggressive in a lot of ways this season, and they need to continue that by calling Cruz up. The lack of depth is forcing Boone to rely on the same four or five guys in close games, and it’s not always working. Give Cruz a shot.

@BillOC714 @pamsson Sending doval down seems a like a big overreaction to what is realistically a minor problem that Blake and Druschel can fairly easily fix.

@BillOC714 @pamsson I mean one of them is getting cut anyways when Cole comes back but I’m not really sure what doval would benefit from getting sent down. He can very easily work on his slider on the side at this level while still being very effective in game using the sinker and cutter.

@BillOC714 @pamsson Doval’s underlying numbers look great. I’m not really sure why ur putting emphasis on a guy who is barely used out of the pen once a week and another guy who only pitches in a mop up role. There’s no use for two mop up pitchers when they barely have enough mop up work for one guy

Bill@BillOC714·
@bbalfanatic @pamsson So again pitchers that have been more effective and don’t have options? Bird is really the only other guy they could option. I’d take Bird over Doval right now on recency bias and try to correct Doval in the minors but if you said the opposite I wouldn’t totally disagree

@BillOC714 @pamsson Then your next guy on the chopping block is Blackburn not doval. There’s 3-4 arms id pretty easily move on from before I’d even consider bumping doval down.

@bbalfanatic @pamsson Yarbrough has been highly effective when used. He’s only given up runs in 2 of his appearances. And he’s great against lefties. He just needs to be used more frequently. Bump Hill into more leverage situations to take pressure off Headrick and use Yarbrough in more Hill spots

@BillOC714 @pamsson Saying he’s the worst pitcher on the roster when guys like yarb are on it is a bit dishonest lmao. Optioning doval makes them worse than just dropping yarb for someone. Cruz isn’t up here cause he makes doval look like he’s great at holding runners.

@bbalfanatic @pamsson Yea it’s a terrible pitch this year but it’s the only one he’s got that grades as plus stuff wise and generates high whiffs. Taking it away reduces the immediate issue, it doesn’t make him a good pitcher. He’s the worst pitcher on the roster right now, pretty clearly

@RyanGarciaESM @FiresideYankees True but one is “streaky” which is basically whenever he has a bunch of rest which is basically start of the regular season, or right after all star break. During his lows he literally does not contribute it is weird. You would think a guy 0-18 would steal when he walks but no

@ChrisKirschner @disyanks @pamsson This attitude is why tent Grisham out leadoff hitter is batting .180. It’s actually mind blowing how we go through this every year and yet you guys act like simply getting hits doesn’t matter lol. It’s sad how far left this has gone. Man on third a walk doesn’t help.
