Getting something from 80% to done has always been a rare skill. AI doesn't make it go away. Follow-through + taste is ever the killer combination.

We're excited about the innovation this has unlocked for us and can't wait to share more next week. @vercel you've been an amazing partner and Vercel Sandboxes are great!

Yes, product review as a whole is where I feel the clear gap is And absolutely agree on the onslaught of mergable code being the key bottleneck per below, it does feel like movement there in terms of merging working code, so the question then becomes what have we shipped, what is the new shape of the product, what are we missing etc x.com/mattarderne/st…

Maybe we'll transcend task management as a paradigm, I' not sure. I think we have much more stronger needs for review tooling to handle the onslaught of code being written. Maybe that's part of issue management, maybe it's something else, but the bottleneck is clearly becoming review (and not just code review, product review as a whole).

@bbergher @kageiit @thatguybg @roocode linear et all will soon feel too close to the fire, like managing a nuclear reactor from within the core chamber need interfaces designed to enable new the perspectives we need (hand wavy as that sounds)

@kageiit @thatguybg @roocode Not trying to convince you to use Linear at, just explaining the difference. We also use Slack to kick off end-to-end tasks a lot, with thread context, it's valuable in other situations.

Have you actually tried it? Linear has done a really great job with their integration, you can delegate work to agents, they respond in threads, tasks move through stages (in progress, in review, done) automatically, it feels like delegating work to other people. And of you use a good agent (like Roo ;) you don't need to keep supervising it.

@bbergher @thatguybg @roocode It's essentially where you store context. In a linear vs fire a prompt and then on the PR that's generated It's not too different at smaller scale

@bbergher @roocode I will not say, "I don't like beautiful ui." Rather I care less about the extension UI. I chose an extension over CLI cause it seems a bit more friendly and more functioning. But the inconsistency hurt.

@roocode i don't understand why you made every corner in the extension more rounded. you see vs code is not that rounded. also we real developers often don't care about beautiful ui. it's all about functionality. rather it makes the ui worse. 🧵

Thanks for the feedback, Sazid! In my experience many real developers care a lot about beautiful UI. In fact many of the best developers strive to make the best UI possible for their users, out of respect and true appreciation for the need for aesthetic pleasure us humans seem to have. Beauty is invariably subjective though, and I appreciate your take – rounded corners can ironically be a wedge issue.

because the vs code ui is more edged. also many component became inconsistent as they use vs code component. some rounded some square 🤮🤮 please reverse the update @roocode see hacker news. its also for developers. not that much ui play.

@HeffHQ 3/3 The quotes automatically added to variables in Metabase therefore making it impossible to use a table name variable. Finally, the date filter on Redash can filter down to seconds. I can only see HH:mm on Metabase. Thanks!

I wish Redash and Metabase could combine to become one. There some things I find useful in one that is not in the other 🥲

@haithem_io @tom_doerr @metabase That's indeed part of our Pro plan, which is aimed at teams with enough scale. complexity and budget to warrant those mechanisms (+ permissions, auth, etc). We're adding more to it soon – expired verification, flagging, deprecation, etc –, to make it even more worth paying for.

@tonygiorgio_ @metabase Hey Tony, not sure I'm following. Mind expanding upon your idea? Cross-DB joins are a pretty complex matter when you start to take multi-stage filters and aggregations into consideration, so if you found a shortcut, I'd be *really* excited to understand it :)

Got multiple stages in your queries? Custom columns? You can now wire up dashboard filters to columns from any part of a card’s query ✌️

@gill_kyle Hey Kyle, mind saying more about AI features Metabase is pushing? We shouldn't be doing that.

Based on recommendations I have now tried: - Apache Superset: required all sorts of drivers and was hard to connect to my DB - Outerbase: seemed a bit limited and SQL editor was a little slow - Mode: has no pricing on their pricing page so not gonna continue though it worked great - Metabase: converts UI into SQL incorrectly for my SQL dialect (SingleStore) and is pushing a bunch of AI features I don't think I need - Retool: so many options I can't often find what I need, connecting to the DB and then connecting data to a chart seemed like way too much for any of my teammates to figure it out Next up, Grafana!
Kyle Gill@gill_kyle

What is the best tool to share as a team that lets me connect my database, write SQL queries, and build dashboards? (Basically your favorite modern BI tool or internal tool builder that isn't bloated and isn't Tableau)
