@gabby_cabby But why are people not voting? If they really care about what is happening to their constituency, they should vote. We elect based on vote count and not on percentage, so policies need to be implemented accordingly.

I’ve been looking at this Reform idea about putting migrant centres in Green voting areas — the whole “you get what you vote for” line. I’ll be honest… at first, I sort of understood it. But the more I’ve thought about it, the more it doesn’t sit right with me. Because that’s not really how it works in real life. Take somewhere like Gorton and Denton. People say “they voted Green”… But did they? The MP got just over 40% of the vote. Turnout was under 50%. So in reality, you’re talking about a percentage of a percentage — not the whole area deciding anything. So who are you actually punishing? Because it’s not just Green voters, is it? It’s: people who voted differently people who didn’t vote people who had no real say either way That’s where it stops feeling right to me. That’s not accountability… that’s just everyone in that area dealing with it, whether they asked for it or not. And there’s another thing people aren’t really talking about… If you start piling facilities like this into certain parts of England, you’re going to create pressure: local services get stretched tensions build and you end up concentrating problems instead of sorting them That never ends well. We’ve seen it before. Now, on the wider issue… I do think the system isn’t working — and it needs sorting out properly. If people are here with no right to remain, that has to be dealt with. Simple as that. But it needs to be done properly, not politically. That means a system that actually works — processing people properly, making decisions quickly, and where necessary removing people in a way that’s enforced, not just talked about. If that involves offshore processing, proper return agreements, and putting pressure on countries that won’t take people back — then fine. But it should be done as a national policy, for the good of England as a whole. Not used to make a point by targeting certain areas. For me, that’s the line. You don’t run England by trying to prove a point to voters. You run it by doing what actually works. And the bigger issue in all of this? Turnout. Because if half the country isn’t even voting… then this idea of “you chose this” just doesn’t stack up. If you don’t vote, you’re handing decisions over to a smaller group of people. And this is what you end up with.
Nigel Farage MP@Nigel_Farage

If you vote Reform you will not have an illegal migrant deportation facility in your area. We will hold migrants awaiting deportation in constituencies that vote Green instead. You get what you vote for.

Sekar Babu & Ma. Subramaian have been the key reason DMK lost its fortress Chennai. Their arrogance, power politics, ill-treating people, doctors, sanitary workers, and even low level DMK cadres have been the pain points. Multiple people have warned of this so many times. But DMK first family was in echo chambers for so long. Deserving loss for DMK. Especially in Chennai.

@SECTOR_RES0123 How about debt? Not everything can just be about GDP. People need to feel the development, live a peaceful life and be able to access resources and criticise the govt without fear. The dravidian parties have swindled resources, money and livelihoods of many.

🚨DMK gave Tamil Nadu 11% GDP growth. Highest in India. Still lost the elections. Why? A 2-year-old party promised MORE freebies and won. TVK’s promises:- • ₹2,500/month cash to women • 6 free LPG cylinders/year • 200 units free electricity • ₹4,000/month for unemployed graduates • Free buses for women + education loans up to ₹20L This is the new pattern across India. Every election, the number goes higher. Every government outbids the last. Is this public welfare or economic collapse? What do you think?

I’ve noticed a growing trend of Green voters calling detention centres concentration camps. It’s a loaded term, designed to provoke outrage, not debate. These centres are short term holding facilities for processing and deportation. People can’t leave, yes, that’s the point of immigration enforcement. The real issue? Many Greens who are opposing them, it's simply because they now face the reality of these centres being placed in their own communities.

@LoftusSteve Why is it badly considered if there are no problems and why are you saying they dont bother as they are detained? Surely if they welcome them, then should be open and happy about it

This is nonsense. 99% of the complaining isn't about migrant centres being in their area. Why would they bother if they are detained? The complaints are about a spiteful, badly considered and probably illegal pre election pledge.

@ZackPolanski What is wealth tax? Taxing working people and giving it imported illegals? What is your plan to create jobs? What will the millions imported do here? How much will security cost or is it just a matter or every citizen deal with problems just like how it is with shoplifting?

When you see the relentless attacks from other parties on the Greens across the media remember this: They hate our plan to end Rip Off Britain. They don't want a wealth tax. They don't want public ownership & lower bills. They're trying everything in their power to stop us.

10,700 people voted reform in Gorton and Denton Yet reform will inflict a migrant detention centre on those people who generously gave them their support because others didn’t. It’s dreadful politics.

If anything is going to push you to vote Green, please let it be this grotesque new policy from Reform. Let’s be honest-every decent person in the UK wants the absolute opposite of what Reform is planning. And the opposite is the Green Party 💚 Vote for kindness and decency 🗳️

This is not a serious way of doing politics. There will be many in Green constituencies who did not vote Green, and many in Reform constituencies who did not vote Reform. No government should set public policy with the purpose of punishing or rewarding an entire constituency on the grounds of which candidate it returned at the polls. Reform should withdraw this stupid commitment pronto.
Zia Yusuf@ZiaYusufUK

Today we announce a new policy: In order to deport all illegal migrants in Britain, Reform will need to detain tens of thousands at a time. Migrants will not be able to leave these detention centres, and each will be held there a couple of weeks before being deported. So here’s our promise: A Reform government will not put any migrant detention facilities in any constituency with a Reform MP. Nor will we put them where Reform controls the council. And of the remaining areas, we will prioritise Green controlled parliamentary constituencies and Green controlled councils to locate the detention centres. Put simply, if you vote in a Reform council or Reform MP, we guarantee you won’t have a detention centre near you. If you vote Green, there’s a good chance you will. This is an important exercise in democratic consent, not just for our mass deportation policy, but for where the detention centres are placed. Given @ZackPolanski openly advocates for open borders, I look forward to their warm embrace of this policy. votegreengetillegals.com

All the men on that boat should be considered a serious risk to all British women and children, and should be detained. If a woman and girl were raped and beaten to death, NONE of these men should be free to roam our streets.

🚨NEW: The migrants who died crossing the channel this morning were a woman and a 16-year-old girl, both of which did not die from drowning, but were "found dead inside the boat" An investigation has been launched [@SkyNews]

Reform says it will build new immigration centres in areas that vote Green. Democratic politics is not punitive. Authoritarian politics is. Illegal immigration policy, including the location of any detention centres, should be based on national objectives and requirements, security, operational necessity, efficiency, and logistics such as access to airfields for removal, not on punishing whole communities for how some - perhaps a minority - of them voted. As a policy is not only inefficient, it’s confrontational and deliberately divisive. It’d set voters against voters and councils against central government when the real task is to restore national control. Furthermore, detention centres should be offshore, or at least remote and secure, not dumped into population centres as a political stunt. telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/05/0…
