Pretty much anytime in my lifetime I would have expected @PackMensBball to lose by 20+ to Kansas. I would have been happy with a 1 point loss. Elated. For some reason this one hurts even more than the normal NC State s#*%. We are soooo close to being there.

One of the provisions tucked away in the House tax bill is a tax hike that would decimate North Carolina’s tobacco farmers. I stand with our hardworking growers and I’m pushing to get this hidden tax removed from the One Big Beautiful Bill.

I know Brandon. He is a great farmer and an even better person. We too quickly judge folks on what we pressume. Many farmers we think are rich AF have debts we can not imagine paying back. He is definitely not a complainer. USA need 1000s more farmers just like him. @bdbatten
Sarah Taber@SarahTaber_bww

Oh I can clear that up. Lots of US farmers today are rich AF thanks to inherited wealth, & way more skilled at complaining than they are at farming. I don't know Batten, but Kim Kornegay in particular is one of the least reliable narrators you could hope to find on agriculture.

@bdbatten @SarahTaber_bww I don’t know if you know, but they are cooking you in the replies to the original thread. You might wanna fight back there instead of trying to deflect in this thread 😆

Stunning to watch cognitive dissonance in front of your eyes. These farmers refuse to blame the Trump tariffs ruining their lives. They blame “acts of God,” they blame his cabinet, they ramble about how difficult they have it… …but they will not blame the 1 person responsible

@blake_vince @FarmrHuntr We bought a 1590 recently and the gauge wheel adjustments are a bear. We are having to remove the unit, press out that shaft and clean and re-grease about 1/2 of them. Previous owner didn't believe in maintenance. Everything else was fairly straightforward, bearings etc.

@FarmrHuntr Blades, boots, firming wheel, seed tab. Closing wheel arm is straight and tight. Bearing in closing wheel should spin easily. The depth/gauge wheel control lever should move freely, that can be a real P.I.T.A.

Never owned a drill. What are watch outs and pros/cons on a 1590? Primarily for seeding covers.

North Carolina, as someone who loves NC agriculture and is a small farmer, I beg you NOT to vote for Sarah Taber. She may talk with a lot of words, but she has no clue about realities facing food systems. Don’t buy the hype and lies , vote Troxler. #NCPol
Sarah Taber@SarahTaber_bww

North Carolina, I ask for your vote for Commissioner of Agriculture. Let's keep our farms farming and create new opportunities for rural North Carolina. #BeAVoter #TimeForTaber wsoctv.com/news/political…

@clintwfischer In the southeast, H2A is the only way we can get labor. There are lots of firms, lawyers, and associations that facilitate this process. There are no Americans willing to do these jobs. The H2A program is broken, overwhelmed, and overburdensome.

I’ve mentioned grant writing as a potential ag-adjacent business idea before. Here’s one I haven’t mentioned: H-2A Labor Solutions Business "Simplify the H-2A visa process for farmers" Ag labor shortages = need for temporary foreign employees. But the application, recruitment, and compliance details are a hurdle many operations won’t tackle. Your services: -Fill out & file paperwork w/ gov’t agencies -Recruit foreign workers -Provide work contract -Help employees get their visa -Book travel accommodations -Coordinate SSN & Driver’s License -Assist as needed during employment Pretty sure you could pull most of this off remotely. Thoughts?
