Good morning my little pumpkins of loveliness. I have awoken on this, my birthday, to sunshine and blue skies. So a perfect start to the day. @PaulBlight6 Some of the rather spectacular shower clouds this afternoon over Poole , these were followed by by a hefty hail storm about an hour later mixed with heavy rain

Its a very bad may early afternoon when the top temperatures around the UK are infact "Ship or Buoy observations, esp as the sea is at its coldest. These are pretty disapointing for mid may and it def feels pretty cold out there in the heavy showers.

@peacockreports Just been to Swanage with cold strong easterly whipping up rougher sea and overcast but looking towards IOW much darker skies over there ? Heard several walkers saying “ gosh it’s cold ! “ brrr

Life on the edge - this has been my view of the sky to the southeast for much of the morning. Here it’s another instance of mainly sunny, rather windy weather. Very drying.

Got an uber home this evening. Yes, I realise the abuse I’ll get telling you that, but thought I’d tell you anyway. I actually know my way around London and so as he chatted on his phone in a foreign language (all uber drivers talk on the phone whilst driving you and all are foreign) I watched as he drove past the turning we needed. Ok, no problem, there was another coming up. He drove straight past that. The trouble now was that we’d have a blooming long drive going all the way round for miles, so I said, ‘for goodness sake mate, you’ve just driven past two turnings and I really don’t want to be in your car all night’. So he did a three point turn in the street and started heading back. I gave it a moment before informing him that he was now heading the wrong way up a one way street and there were cars heading towards us. So we did another three point turn and I guided him to where I wanted to go. He had a sat nav, but I’d decided that letting him rely on that was a waste of time. So anyway, journeys are always more interesting when you’ve got a completely useless driver. Cheap though.

@beachstroller99 @Petagna Briefly very heavy here in NE Dorset, but unremarkable overall apart from the ending of a markedly dry run of weather. Still, 5 mm isn't going to go very far - will need to catch some showers these next two days.

@SimonCalder update on passport queue info - last weekend flew into Copenhagen Friday morning and left Monday afternoon , both times only took about 10 minutes with machine photo fingerprints plus border officer looking at passport with a smile

@SimonCalder Great walking tour in Florence in March only around 5 euros with a tip at the end if you felt the guide had done a good job … he was brilliant a young architect from Venice area who’d settled in Florence … his lively interesting intro to Flo was v good

@PaulBlight6 Started raining in Poole at 2 pm and now getting heavier rapidly with some lower level heavy grey clouds picking up speed in the wind after a very still morning

Widespread Thunderstorm Activity (much more than i was expecting to see when i logged in this morning now coming north over Biscay into NW France. Differential thermal advection and somewhat less saturated buoyant mid levels leading to significant amounts of elevated thunderstorm activity coming north across NW France at present

@Petagna In Poole we had overcast all day till around 4 pm when suddenly skies blue ish once more but a damp chill in air this afternoon/ evening here

As expected mid 20sC in the SE today Very warm, dry and sunny here 🌞 More cloud and humidity towards the N and W with patchy rain 🌦

@seashorty Hi welcome back ! I have hardly posted anything either on here but I still regularly do my solo litter picks mostly around edges of Poole Harbour. Big issues with fine weather and car meets leaving plenty of litter of course !

I've got the excess fun out of my system now and I'm back on patrol! I haven't missed the sand (or the smell!) but I have missed the beaches and it felt good to be back out and about. Here's today's collection, 111 pieces - nothing much changes.
