The government today published outline proposals on protecting children from sexual in response to the IICSA recommendations. The actual proposed legislation is not yet available, so it's not possible to say what effect this will have - if any. gov.uk/government/new…

@DrProudman Because he offers things I don't. For example, in an extreme situation, he would sacrifice himself to keep me and us safe. I would not do that for him. Next to that, how can I argue that the surname symbolism is 'unfair'?

@winniemli Imagine if the same factors were used to condone a man who pressured her into aborting. Or a man who killed a one-day-old newborn because the pressure was ‘too much’. Our freedom ends where another’s begins. That poor baby qualified as an ‘other’. There is no excuse.

@ejthementor No. I think we all judge. But it’s possible to still find common ground with people we judge to be ‘wrong’ about something.

Is it possible to never judge?

I don’t think people should throw #virginiaguiffre under the bus for agreeing to settle. If you only support her as long as she does what you want, do you really support her at all? We shouldn’t shame other survivors for making whatever choices they feel are best for them.
