Kevin Warren and George McCaskey said the Bears are still appealing the NFL's decision to not give them compensatory picks for Ian Cunningham's departure. They expect an answer soon. McCaskey, Warren and GM Ryan Poles visited with commissioner Roger Goodell in New York City and stated the team's case to receive comp picks based on their belief that Cunningham's departure/hire as GM in Atlanta fulfills Rooney Rule obligations that should net Chicago 2 compensatory third round picks.

Jaylon Johnson played 72 of 73 snaps vs. Detroit, his highest snap total since returning in Week 12 from core muscle surgery. He's been honest throughout the last 2 months that he's not at 100% nor will he be until he has ample time to recover/train. Johnson: "I’m not going to get back to my full self until I get a full off-season to really attack my body head to toe and not being in having to prepare or a game where I can just really take all the time I need to get my body back together. But right now I’m just as best as as I’m going to get out of it."
