And finally - remember that prodromal labor is not a waste! As frustrating as it can be to start and stop, every little bit of work that your body does gets you closer to your baby being born. It all counts! You may have 8-10-12 hours of labor all in one stretch. Or you can have a few hours here and there in the weeks leading up to the delivery.

🧵 It only took an hour and 45 minutes of labor at home for my third baby. Birthing at home was unplanned, but it was the most peaceful, pain-free delivery with no tearing. How did this happen? Here are the things I believe attributed to such an incredible delivery and my top tips for mamas preparing for labor!

dermatology is a massive scam in the 1980s nobody wanted to work in dermatology so they hired a PR firm and rebranded themselves as the saviors of skin cancer. they increased awareness of skin cancer and made their main business screening they TERRORIZED the public into fearing the sun and UV light, scared people into applying SPF even indoors and avoiding the sun at all costs. since then dermatologists have made lots of $$, but our health has suffered. what they dont tell you is that avoiding the sun increases your risk of almost every single disease and more deadly cancers like colon, prostate and lung. stop falling for this garbage.

@Politi_Chick Whaaaaaaaat!?? Bank account donations?! I send family ideas for our kids bdays and Christmas, because they ask. But I would never send a link an Amazon list along with a bday party invite. This is all too much.

@becathome4 Now they're doing registries for kids' birthdays! I saw one with a link to contribute to the their bank account! And they invited about 100 people to a baby's 1st birthday. It felt greedy to me.

I was recently invited to a bridal shower for a bride who has been living with her fiancé for a few years. They’re in their mid-20s, have full time jobs, and bought their first home last year. They’re settled. I followed the link to her registry and my mouth fell open. 🧵

@becathome4 My husbands cousin had a destination wedding. It was already $1,000+ for flights, accommodation, outfits etc. I went to the registry and was SHOCKED. $600 for cereal bowls! $1,500 for a teacup/saucer set. I gave money in a card

The videos of babies getting glasses or hearing aides and then seeing or hearing their mom clearly for the first time… Im not a cryer… I weep.

When my parents married in the early '60s, they were barely out of high school and hadn't yet accumulated the things you need to start a household. They actually needed stuff, and family hand-me-downs didn't cover everything, so they had a registry at a department store for everything else. To this day, I'm still of the mind that this is who and what a gift registry is for. If you've been living on your own for a while, are making decent money, and already have all of your household necessities, you not only don't need a registry, but it's gauche as hell to have one. A wedding is not a gift grab or a chance to upgrade. That doesn't mean you don't give gifts to grown people who finally decide to get hitched, but no, I am not buying you a Kitchen Aid (especially when I know that you almost never cook); you'll get something small, but very personal, and carefully selected or handmade just for you.

@TrentTamra Oh my gosh kindergarten graduations 😑 I can’t. I mean I could. I really could go off 😂 life is too easy, too comfortable, we have too much money that we waste it or we go into debt to keep up with other people… our culture’s priorities are SO misaligned.

@becathome4 Could you also do a thread on kindergarten graduations and gender reveals?!? Maybe even gofundmes for funeral expenses in families that clearly have the resources. Over celebration, indulgence, and naval gazing of the ordinary. 👎🏻
