Negative Effects of Sedentary Behavior
1️⃣ Physical inactivity ranks as the fourth leading global cause of death.
2️⃣ Sedentary behavior and lack of physical activity play key roles in the development of metabolic and endocrine diseases.
3️⃣ Clinical studies show that bed rest can lead to insulin resistance, lower VO2max, higher blood pressure, and other health issues.
4️⃣ Physically inactive individuals are 1.4 times more likely to develop dementia, possibly due to insulin resistance driving cognitive decline.
5️⃣ The least active people face a 1.75 times higher risk of cardiovascular disease, as inactivity remains a major risk factor.

4 years ago, I got my offer to study physiotherapy at BCU. Yesterday, I officially accepted a new band 6 developmental role in stroke rehabilitation!

I had a really busy clinic today and as usual I estimate that >80% of people I saw did NOT have the classic clear or consistent signs or symptoms that we get taught to assess for to make a diagnosis
Instead many had unusual pain descriptions, locations, aggs and eases, with inconsistent patterns and behaviours!
And in my 20+ years of experience working in MSK this is common and normal yet it is rarely spoken about let alone taught how to deal with!
And we wonder why uncertainty is so poorly managed and tolerated in healthcare and why over diagnosis and treatment is rife!
We all need to be better at discussing and highlighting how rarely humans present clearly and classically, and how there is a lot of uncertainty a lot of the time and thats perfectly normal and ok!

The NHS is losing 15% of physiotherapy staff each year.
We're calling for the government to urgently address recruitment and retention of physiotherapy staff by committing to a fully funded workforce plan now.
Value physiotherapy staff.

Thank you to the @RoyalFamily for inviting myself & @HRmohsin96 from @positiveyouthUK down to the Kings Garden Party and recognising our work supporting newly arrived young people.
Unreal experience and a pleasure to talk more about our work with others.
