'We are on the streets protesting the worsening of the condition of the working people of Nigeria over the past 64 years...'

Today marks yet another anniversary of our independence, the great Nigeria, Giant of Africa, like they said.
Today should symbolize our freedom, but does it?
Have we really been free?
Since our heroes past celebrated on 1st October 1960, have Nigerians ever celebrated a true Independence?
The first and last day that a 64 years old celebrated was the day of his birth, isn’t that a calamity?
Just today, while the nation waves its green and white flags, peaceful protesters who dared to call for a better Nigeria were met with tear gas and brutality from the State, and only recently, in August, others were killed for asking for a better Nigeria free from hunger. And let us not forget October 20, 2020, one of the darkest days in our history, when peaceful protesters seeking justice and an end to police brutality were brutally murdered in the same month we celebrate freedom. So Nigeria, when have we ever been free?
The wealth of this blessed Nation remains concentrated in the hands of a few, while millions suffer and die.
And the leaders call that Independence.
Today Nigeria is not free. In Nigeria, Bandits celebrate independence, Terrorist celebrate independence, insecurity celebrate independence, kidnappers are very much independent, corruption celebrates the biggest independence while the people cry for help.
As we mark our independence today, we mark the failure of our leaders.
We mark the betrayal of the hopes and dreams of Nigerians.
A betrayal to the Nigeria of our dreams.
Our leaders have driven us into poverty, leaving us with nothing but hope.
Hope they constantly try to crush, but then claim that they renew.
Yet, in the face of these challenges, we continue to rise. Our spirit unbroken, and our belief in a better Nigeria is standing strong.
This hope they try to crush, we have kept it alive.
Today, I say Happy Independence to Nigeria, not because we are truly free, but because I believe in the resilience of our people. Despite the challenges, despite the terrible leaders, we have not given up.
We are a nation of dreamers, fighters, and believers of a great future, of true independence. Until then, we will continue to speak up, demand better, and to strive for the Nigeria we all deserve.
Happy Independence, Nigeria.
May we one day truly get the freedom that we deserve.

The president's Independence Day speech specifically the economic parts are filled with inaccuracies and falsehoods
Who vetted it?
How can the President say he “cleared” Ways and Means of N30t?
Or “attracted FDI of $30b”
These are not simple errors; these are gross lies and falsehoods, and it's pretty straightforward to fact-check these
The media and strategy team of the President must realise that when President Tunubu speaks, it is a record, and his audience is also outside of Nigeria, this audience includes investors and Multinational agencies
How does a Bloomberg trader trust a nation whose President says FDI again Foreign Direct Investment inflow was $30b in 12 months, yet reserves are $37b and the currency is depreciating to $1:N1700?
Not good

When I contested for the HoR, I have learned so many things about the Nigeria political atmosphere.
I have seen a clear picture of why the politicians are stealing our money.
Most of the people in the party leadership are people with questionable character, they worship money, they don’t care about competence and integrity, their primary concern is how to get money from the candidate not what the candidate can offer to the people.
Political positions has now become like an investment, you invest and wait for the right time to get your ROI.
As young people, we must do everything POssible to change the narrative which I am sure that it’s POssible with people like @PeterObi.
A new Nigeria is POssible.

No matter how hard they try, that name will never be tainted.
Super proud of you!
In their silly ways they thought money can buy everyone
SERAH IBRAHIM@TheSerahIbrahim
They claimed it never happened. They claimed it was fake news but here they are lowkey giving out cash in the name of health assistance. Use it for your elections all you want but my name will never be tainted and the victims who received the assistance will never be silenced.

"Nobody died during #EndSARS protest at Lekki toollgate."
"Where are their families?"
"Where are their friends?"
Well, ask the Lagos State government to name the "families and friends" their N100m bribe was for!

According to all the receipts so far:
1. Serah Ibrahim is their target.
2. Femi Falana (SAN) is their target.
3. People died at the Lekki Tollgate.
4. The Lagos state government is guilty.
5. Agbado attempt to rope Falana has failed.
6. Sanwolu & the LSG denied that nobody died.
7. For years, they taunted & gaslighted us with “where are the dead bodies?”
8. Meanwhile, they wanted to secretly bury dozens of corpses kept at a Lagos morgue.
9. Offering a N100 million as compensation, is admission of guilt or complicity.
10. They offered a N100m Hush Money to hush the Lekki Tollgate Massacre Investigations.
11. The targeted harassments, the propaganda & misinformation against the Senior Advocate of Nigeria, is coming from the APC.
12. That boy deliberatedly slandered the Senior Advocate in that video. It was a hatched job.
13. Femi Falana only gave a solicited advice.
14. He neither asked for, nor received a dime.
15. The APC embarked on a media trial against the Senior Advocate; hoping it’d stick.
16. Victoria Oniru (or whatever) should be sued for defamation. That lady is reckless & a snake.
17. Femi Falana should stop offering his services pro bono. Stop fighting for Nigerians (free of charge). Bill them for everything.
18. Commonsense is not common.
19. Critical Thinking must be taught in Nigeria.
20. Stop fighting for Nigerians, leave them to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu & the APC.

In his Valedictory speech to the Western Region House of Assembly in November 1959, Chief Obafemi Awolowo emphasized that the aim of a government is the welfare of the entire people under its jurisdiction. He argued that government's policy or program must be of great good to the greatest number of the citizens under its charge. Today, we find ourselves in stark contrast to this noble vision.
Unfortunately, instead of a widespread celebration of Nigeria's independence, there are protests in several cities, unease in many homes, and frustration in the hearts of many youths.
Our country is in dire straits today because of a corrupt political class that lacks a people centric vision and the will to govern—a self-absorbed band of kleptocrats who lack empathy and compassion for the people. To them, Nigeria is an SPV set up to serve personal and parochial interests.
But I'm confident that Nigeria will rise again. The change we desire requires collective effort and resolve. We must never surrender to hopelessness and hold our belief in a better country. The scripture says, "When the righteous rules, the people rejoice." Therefore, let us do our part to elect the righteous, the compassionate and the competent. Nigeria shall be great again.
Happy Independence Day.
