Stage 4 lung cancer here. Doing soc because you can’t get approved for right to try until you exhaust every other option. Prob why some people just give up w kaiser and my onco said it’s tough working outside of kaiser for clinical trials. Uhhh so Im educating him hopefully. Trying for Leronlimab once I have hit the point of no other treatments left.

@DrPatrick I would like to ask 2 questions: 1. if you are close to the end… Why would your oncologist be denied trials…and we call for trials and get denied? What about right 2 try? It does not make sense. 2. Oncologists in the EU find the trials. In the US the patient has to find

T cell Exhaustion. Immunosuppressive state. The more I learn about sepsis and why patients die in the ICU the more I’m amazed by how this state of immune collapse parallels cancer. Will be posting some seminal papers that have known about “ sepsis induced lymphopenia” for decades and how suppressor cells ( like in cancer) block the killing cells that clear the infection. So now we attack sepsis in our upcoming trials with all the tools that we use to attack cancer. Activate the killers and suppress the suppressors. Stay tuned.

Does anyone else find it odd that $200 billion is spent on cancer research every single year...and the only thing to show for it is a 75% increase in cancer deaths since the 1990s?

I am so sorry. I live in fear of this on a daily basis. It’s always in the back of my mind since my colorectal symptoms are SO severe, & my entire life revolves around my bowels, but our healthcare system is broken. I very much hope for a good outcome for you & will keep you in my prayers. What is being allowed to happen to people is just criminal.

Pray I don’t acquire Covid or the flu from my upcoming endoscopy. Either I get these procedures in a massive Covid/flu wave, or my GI meds will never be covered by insurance & I will continue to languish in hell. May as well risk it. It’s life-threatening, but who cares, right?

@LauraMiers Yeah, I also had very dismissible symptoms- my doc said I had health anxiety and IBS. 6 mo later here we are.

I am so sorry to hear of your diagnosis. I was misdiagnosed with rectal cancer in late 2023, & it was very scary. I have multiple friends/family members with late stage cancers that came with no symptoms. One is in ICU as we speak. (The only place HCWs wear N95s). Meanwhile medicine has checked out completely. I hope you are getting treatments & they work & things turn around for you. ❤️

I’m so sorry. I was diagnosed w rectal cancer 4 weeks ago. Finally had lung biopsy (it spread) yesterday and today in Portland & i feel like I’ve been stabbed in the lung The surgeon advised me that mask mandates are mandatory for staff (Kaiser, Oregon) but there were only a couple who wore surgical out of over 50 staff I saw. Sigh.

Made it out an hour after the procedure this time, still in bradycardia. Last time I spent 5 hours in the PACU. This time it’s just normal. Cool, cool. They went through my medical history & began with “anxiety” & the depression I’ve never, ever had. Then came the numerous GI surgery history that insurance never seems to see. I was told I have thyroid disease (surprise, never been told or treated for that!), & arrhythmia/hypertension, & they said they stretched out my esophagus, so maybe that will help. My virtual colonoscopy isn’t until March. I’m not allowed to get a real one since the last time I did (2020), the doctor freaked out in the throes of opiate hysteria while I was on the table, & refused to sedate me. Since I’m forbidden from a real one, & the virtual one showed GI masses that ended in a rectal cancer misdiagnosis & no further care, when I’m finally diagnosed with stage IV bowel cancer, we’ll know why!
