Today for @HunObserver, I wrote about Fidesz's rehabilitation of the late right-wing writer and MP István Csurka. As someone, whose father was born in a tiny Hungarian village next to the Romanian border, I cannot emphasize the importance of this decision enough. Crossing the border without checks is a dream come true for millions, including ethnic Hungarians. That's what the EU stands for.

Hungarian weekly Magyar Hang that falsely reported on Syrian Airlines VIP jet in Budapest based in a 2012 photos - and implying Orbán might shelter Assad - issued a Stark apology to its readers. Truly out of character mistake for them.

I recommend this great guest contribution to @HunObserver by @ALangleyShields. It is a fairly emblematic story of the Hungarian 90s, both in its positive and negative aspects.

While this is obviously gerrmandering, I'm a bit more concerned about the other part of the modification which would stop requiring envelopes for ballots. This would make vote buying/voter coercion much easier, especially in small villages.
