A rural scene at Chingford Hatch level crossing from c1935. Seen here from Hatch Lane, the gates were installed in 1873 when the train line was installed to Chingford. They remained until 1971 when a new underpass and pedestrian walkway was built. #chingford #history #train

@LongshawAcademy A lovely cup of coffee and an equally lovely view of the dawn over the mouth of the river Deben, before any of the kids are up! Abseiling, problem solving, the giant swing and fencing await today.

Old Church Road, Chingford from 1905. With Chingford Cemetery up on the hill, local masons once displayed their monumental stone work as seen by the stone cross in the front garden on the right. Today it’s restaurants who now display their menu to tempt customers. #chingford

Station Road, North Chingford, May Bank Holiday in 1903. Hordes of day trippers stream out of the train station to sample the delights of Epping Forest and enjoy the refreshments on offer from the many tea shops around at that time. Spot the steam engine at the end of the line.
