So that would feel somewhat routine to them which is nice when something big has changed. Are you praying for Erika? Not just hypothetically, have you said anything about her in your prayers?

Apologies, that’s what I envision. Please let me explain. When people have asked, why doesn’t she spend time with her kids, Erika supporters have said, how do you know they aren’t with her? So if that’s true, and they’re at work (which she’s admitted to) and traveling with her, hotels, planes, Ubers, venues - where do her kids come first? Where do they have time to grieve? To get their mother to explain where daddy is. So yes, please pray for Erika. But let’s not avoid that she’s either leaving her kids home or bringing them with her and neither is putting them first.

@TiffaniMarie483 As kids my brother and me (a girl) made a game of ripping spiders legs off. We've never committed a violent act as adults. In fact we're both frequent dryers at anything remotely sad. Your kid will be ok. I'd only worry if it transferred to animals.

@Fintech00 Toy library (just give toys a clean before playing). Book library (just choose the books in case they have ideologies you're not happy with) Teach them how to make a cushion fort, set up a table for drawing. Once taught how to roleplay pirates etc, they'll start to on their own

No, I’m not saying that at all. Everyone deserves prayer. I’m pointing at the smears and attacks portion of the post as well as her and her kids lives being threatened. If you had over 20 million dollars and two kids. Your husband was murdered for his position, with a security team that failed him, one that says they can’t protect you. Being a CEO of a company of 5 is different than a CEO of thousands. She appeared on stage not as the CEO, Charlie’s wishes were that the husband provides and the mother raises the children. She has the right to leave her house but if it’s putting her and her children at jeopardy than why be so selfish to continue doing it when she financially doesn’t have to

I think if you want someone to understand the ethical issues with egg donation and surrogacy for gay men the best thing you can do is ask them this question: “Why do you think the standard practice in these arrangements is to have two separate women as donor and surrogate?” Any human with a functioning moral compass and an above room temperature IQ is going to feel at least a bit uncomfortable as they outline how this arrangement is intended to ensure minimal maternal infant bonding and therefor no legal claim of motherhood. People who oppose these practices often frame it as “buying a baby” but I think that’s not quite right, because at least one intended parent is usually the actual father. What they are buying, and legally ensuring, is the absence of a mother.

A common Roman Catholic talking point about praying to Mary or other deceased Christians is that they’re not really “praying” to them at all. They’ll say they’re simply asking for intercession, no different than asking a friend on earth to pray for you. But that comparison breaks down real fast. If I ask a friend here on earth to pray for me, I just ask. I tell them what’s going on and ask them to keep me in their prayers. Scripture actually encourages this kind of mutual care among believers. But that’s not what’s happening with Mary. I don’t - build statues of my friends and kneel before them. I don’t - burn incense or light candles in their honor. I don’t - call them a co-mediator between me and God. I don’t - use language for them that the Bible reserves for God alone. And I certainly don’t - bow in prayer to them so they can pass my requests along. At that point, the “it’s just like asking a friend” argument isn’t just weak, intentionally misleading. Whatever is going on in those practices, it goes far beyond simply asking a fellow believer to pray.

@mtaibbi That they need to be asked nicely to do something "so they're incentivized to do it." And then I should humbly accept whatever start time they choose. But they never have a kind or liberal standard when asking back. (This is an example of men I actually love.)
