I met Ricky Carmichael back in 2002 at a Honda dealer signing, and man, In the brief moments of getting his autograph as a 16 year old fan the arrogance was off the charts. Same vibe as that video with him and Daniel Blair—total smug energy. The old saying “never meet your hero’s because they will disappoint you” came true for me that day.
Don’t get me wrong, RC’s moto accomplishments are unreal, and I’ve always respected what he did on the track. But off it? Not a fan. His behavior rubs me the wrong way, and let’s be real—his analyst skills in the booth are painfully lacking. Talent doesn’t always translate everywhere, I guess.
