@beefbillionare@Doug_Severson That’s always what uninformed clowns say. People have disposable income up the ass but somehow won’t pay to know where their food comes from. Laughable. 🤡

1) Unpopular opinion: I’m all for family cattle operations, but capitalism means the best operators win. The market evolves through competition to deliver the highest quality goods at the cheapest prices for consumers. No industry has a right to be protected from that.
@dannybigo8@Doug_Severson Sadly I don’t think it matters at this point. At these levels it’s all price point for the consumer. I’m not arguing. I’d be in favor of shutting down box imports if we are going to shut down the border. Huge mistake this admin made.
@beefbillionare When is efficiency enough? When u have 1-2 suppliers? I follow u - but the consequences then start monopolistic behavior with 1-2 suppliers - solutions were never made they evolved due to market signals - the next generation will not work for little to no money in Rural US
@beefbillionare Capitalism has put us where we are. Destruction of small communities and family values. Huge disconnect from what a good life truly is. I respect your opinion but dont agree fully. The younger generation is actually happy with less and this changes future dynamics!
@rodgrisier1958 Every mature industry ever that has transformed from thousands of small producers to a few. Look around. World is bigger than what you think.
@nkellykc Well how did they win? They didn’t come online and get blessed to win. @ErickFarmer73 is a large very successful feeder from what I understand. Don’t think anyone told him when he was 20 he was a chosen one.
2) Family-owned dairies, independent hardware stores, local feed mills, and multi-generational pharmacies all faced this reality when competitors offered better prices. They closed down, consumers won, and nobody cried out for them. Cattle are not an exception to the rule.
@Chickenman918 Find a business that doesn’t have most of those and tell me why cattle are different. In fact I’d argue they are the healthiest of most of these mature industries.
@beefbillionare In the modern day, saying the “market” wins is a joke. This might have been true in the 1800’s, but that sentiment is a joke now. So many backdoor deals, gov intervention, lobbying etc. picking winners and losers, not simple elasticities and supply and demand.
@beefbillionare Big feeders becoming genetically efficient to produce the same tonnage of beef today with half of the cows is the thing no one wants to admit. That sustainability and efficiency story is amazing. It’s no one’s fault it’s just good management.
